alcohol dilemna

here's my problem...i stopped drinking almost completely for the past 6-7 months and before that, only drink in social situations...However now my social life is getting good again and if i'm at a bar or a club getting buzzed is a must. I never really get shit faced so my question is....what is the best way to drink and not completely hinder gains? i dont plan on drinking more than 1-2 times a week and i usually drink just to maintain a buzz...there's gotta be some bro's out there that drink occasionally and still make progress. btw i'm not concerned with excess calories, just alcohol's effect on protein synthesis and its catabolic effect...any way to limit or combat this?
weed is already my main vice but anyone who smokes knows its tough to spit game to any sort of female when you're stoned :goof:
