Alcohol and Juice!!

My mate was quizing me other day regarding not drinking heavily or at all mostly when doing AAS. I gave the standard answers and then realised that I actually don't know the reason why.

This is the case: Alcohol lowers natural testosterone levels, everyone knows this, so when your a natural BB, this is a big deal and will hinder gains dramatically. However, when juicing, and specifically using test, your natural production is minimal and you have plently in the bloodstream anyway from the regular injections, so whats the problem with drinking.

Yes, it stresses the liver, but if your not doing orals and still taking milk thistle (which I do) drinkings doing no more liver damage than what it does to the average joe (possibly less due to liver and anti-oxident supplements).

Yes, its a source of calories, but if you count them and especially if your on a bulking cycle, I still struggle to see the problem.

So what problems is it causing??? I know all the stuff about cardiovascular problems, brain damage etc., but I'm specifically trying to determine why we shouldn't drink while on.

During the discussion with my friend I began thinking that we're probably in a better situation to drink healthily than the average joe due to being fit, lean, anti-oxident supplements and having copious amounts of test in the blood already (so don't need to worry about alcohol decreasing it).

Don't flame me on this!! I'm not wanting to be able to drink (I don't want to have more than a couple every few weekends anyway), I am just confused as to why there is this consensus that drinking is a big no no whilst on.

my main reason for abstaining from alcohol during a cycle isnt really health related. i feel with the few cycles that i do per year i want to make the absolute most of them. the biggest problem i end up having with booze is it fucks up my sleep and makes me feel worn out the next day. i do however think some light responsible drinking is not going to make any significant health difference during a cycle. i think using your own best judgement is best.
foo

Cheers foo. Thats a good one about the sleep, didn't think of that.

Daddy, that doesn't help really. The post was asking HOW does it hinder gains, and I already mentioned stress on the liver. These are just reasons why the public shouldn't drink. I was wanting to know why juicers shouldn't drink specifically

Yeah my main reasoning behind not drinking while on a cycle is that fact that a night of heavy drinking usually involves staying up to all hours of the night and barely getting any sleep. The next day after drinking, i am totally shot. My appetite is decreased and i have no motivation to hit the gym.

drinking

Drinking can never really be good. Another drawback for bodybuilders is that alchohol deheydrates you, and water is obviously essential. And it thins the blood. But my problem is we are BODYBUILDERS, meaning that our bodies look good. And what's one of the main reasons we want to look good? WOMEN. And where do you find women that just want to f*ck? The BAR. What I'm trying to say is that drinking is one vice I just can't part with, I'm 23 and in my so called "prime". I seem to make due though. I always take a multivitamin and a big glass of water before I go to bed. I can still bulk and cut at a good rate, so I'm satisfied.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't alcohol make your muscles catabolic and that is why it hinders your gains?

You are all way off on this one. Here is the deal. Most AS will raise your Testosterone levels greatly. This rise in your body's testosterone results in a constant state of horniness. It is a fact that when on AS you will think about fucking someone that you normally never would. Everything is suddenly fuckable. Now, throw in alchohol. We all know the old saying, the more you drink, the better they look. This is a very bad combination. AS + alchohol = fuck Whoopi Goldberg.

End of story

I don't need the liver stres and my hangover's are like 10X worse then normal. My head POUNDS the next morning if I drink while on.

this may or may not help but check it out , supplement is called dawn 808 and it is made to help prevent liver problems as well as hangovers from drinking. i belive the web site is www.dawn808.com.

try getting up at 5 am and go to the gym ,then to work after a late night drunk.your work outs are are useless, you feel like shit.i am for the first time doing a cycle alcahol free,5 weeks in and up a solid18lb.

this is true- i read a study on this not too long ago-in mice-alcohol increased testosterone levels.

What type of drinking are we talking about? When I would go out and drink (it's been over 3 1/2 yrs since I've had a drink) I'd go balls to the wall and get rip roaring drunk, pass out and come to the next day and most likely have no recollection of the night before. I'm sure that type of drinking wouldn't bode well while on a cycle. There are those people however (I'm not one of them) who can go out and have a few cocktails and call it a night. God Bless them! I never saw the point in just having a couple of drinks but that's me. I think moderation is the key but for me it's entire abstinence since I don't know what that word means.

im with u juice authority.............if im gonna drink im gonna drink. once you start theres no point in stopping. I also wish I could be one of the people who can just ave a few drinks but unfortunately im not. so for now i try to only drink one night a week but I'm a bartender so its tough.

Great way to keep the calories up when bulking. A good strong beer -- all they used to drink before there was water purification. Bad habit, however, when you need to start cutting and your daily calorie limit is the same as your usual daily beer consumption. So, then switch to lite beer for your cutter! (ha ha)

If you are a non-drinker, then of course you will say it is better not to drink. But if you are a drinker, I agree with the author of this thread that, unless you are taking orals, there is no additional stress on the liver as a result of drinking while on AAS. If you are replacing carbs, why not? Just don't become an alcoholic. I would stay away from hard liquor -- only beer or wine (no French wine!)

Ummmm no one mentioned that alchohol is a toxin that dehydrates you and kills protein...

I know poeple who work out for year and make no gains because they drink then stop drinking and blow up or one of my friends who is built exactly like his brother but my friend doesnt drink so he has put on more muscle in 1 year working out than his brother did in 6...

Alchohol is a toxin

The biggest problem is that you can not put your best effort into your workouts when drinking. Just try and set a bench press goal
or a squat goal and see how well you do after a night out.

As far as the testosterone being affected, this is not really an issue, especially when you are on AS as your levels would be abnormally high anyway.

I used to drink a lot and I could maintain my physique but my gains were very slow. Mainly because my motivation was not that great and I was tired a lot.

When you are going to a bar with your friends and you know that your goal is twelve reps tommorow with 130 lb dumbells, you pass on the beer or your partner may smoke you in the gym.

That's what keeps me focused.

alcohol can decrease protein synthesis (process of making new muscle) 30%-50%....so if you are on juice which helps recovery maybe 50% its like being natural that day so its a big waste of your cycle, hangover decreases performance, as far as bulking goes your get EMPTY calories theres no nutrional value to alcohol. Plus you can not metabolize your other proteins and carbs until you metabolize the alcohol which can lead to excess bodyfat storage, cutting same thing too many calories so even if you take in less nutritional calories to make up for the calories count you will be in a catabolic state for your muscles.......i am not trying to be ignorant with this post, i like to drink and get drunk now and then myself but on cycle its just not worth it to me.....cheers though bros

I hear you, I too like to booze it up, but when I am on a cycle, I really try my hardest to take it easy. I usually end up having a few drinks most weekends while on, but if there is a huge party or a big bash going on somewhere, I tend to stay clear to not put myself in the position. I work it around my training.

When I tear one on, I also like to go hard. I think that it comes from my childhood, me and my buddies always partied it a bit harder than most, so the tolerance is there for us. Just try to take it easy while you are on. Your liver dosent need any extra stress.

You know that thing about the mice makes sense. I always get the hardest mornign wood after a night out. Hangovers actually make me horny!!!!!!

That aside yes when alcohol is present protein synthesis slows down. TO what extent I don't know. I used to be more hardcore but now I bet the occasional 2-3 beers or glasses of wine won't harm things too badly. It might help reduce cortisol levels by relaxing you. So take it easy, no ragin' but the occasional 1,2, or 3 beers I'm sure is no prob.

Yep, all or nothing. That's just the way my brain is wired.
