Grant it I got in at 10pm the local time and it's been slightly raining every since but this place you would have to see it for yourself to believe how remarkable it looks

I'm still freezing cause I have to go buy a coat but other then that and the rain this place is AWESOME

I haven't hit the town yet but there is enough here to keep me occupied. Big Downside is I will have to get a vehicle ASAP!!!cause taxis are probably more costly then even around Ft Benning. I should start processing in on Tuesday and will probably go to HHC for the 501st airborne infantry and work with the communications group there. So If I'm on very little for awhile it's because I dont have a computer at my continual access and or busy...

Soon as a I got out of the taxi to take my stuff up to the welcome center there for 6 Moose about 7FUCKING FEET TALL munching on some trees about 20ft away. Hunting is going to be on like donky kong

Soon as I woke up I took 2 pics of the mountains from my room. Just something I would have never expected to see...I like the scene much better then the places in Colorado I've been. this town backs right up to the mountains and has the coast at it's front door.

I'm going to try and find some good place for Seafood 2night and hopefully rent a car and check out the bars or find my friends who are here....

A friend of mine took a cruise up there and he said it was amazing. He said the rivers up there were beautiful.

I want to make it up there at least once.

i;ve heard its beautiful up there :) must be fun to wake up and not see the urban jungle

So far I am...I've been in 11months and have really been expected nothing except to train. I'm finally getting to Perm. Party and will have to work. I'm already looking into a few different jobs I might reup for another2-3 years if they let me reclass within the next 2 years and with those jobs I can still put in for Green to Gold before that enlistment would be up.

I'm going to see how things go. I should be with the Airborne unit here so I'll have a better idea of what it's like. My friends that are here already are infantry and they dont care to much for it cause they get the "new" guy treatment and getting smoked but that should be expected with the types of jobs they have and considering they are E1's and E2's

A tour here is 3 years so if I can reclass within the next 2 then I'll be trying to extend my enlistment if I can't reclass then I'll be putting in for Green to Gold since I'll be elig. to leave after 1.5 years

considering I'm an E3 and getting close to promotion for my E4 I dont think there are 2many people working commo that are going to want to fuck with me...They will be 2busy getting me up to speed since I haven't touched Commo equipment in 4 almost 5 months

I'm actually looking into these 2 jobs

Well I had a 2 week break back in the urban jungle and had fun...I've spent the past 11months out in the countryside so to speak so I'm good to go for awhile...There is enough stuff to do around here to keep me busy. I think I'll be busy with work since they have alot of stuff going on and Increasingly more people are getting sent to this unit. I probably got here just in time a Deployment sometime early next year so I have heard already. But I'll be looking at doing some support for other units if that happens

support for other units in alaska?

on the plus side, you'll be able to get enough protein with all those moose walking around :D

No support for other units that could be fighting if I get deployed to some hot spots...I'm probably going to NTC in a little while. They have 2 NTC rotations scheduled and another JRTC rotation about a month after the last NTC trip

Heard the mesquito's up there are enormous, I used to be a 19D Cavalry Scout, never got up there but was at NTC twice once for blue-4 and once for op-4 (that was fun), as an infantryman you should be promoted quickly they usually have a low promotion point, 18 months still the norm for e-4? Hope for all it's worth you never go to S.Korea. Everybody I talked to said they loved Alaska though. Have fun. :chesty:

Can you please email me some pics of Alaska? I mean, seriously.
