ALA Contaminant

I buy ALA in US and looking for other sources I came across one supplier that told me all oriental ALA ( he sources his from Europe) contains an unknown amount of the contaminant because there is no specific test performed to measure its presence. The contaminant name is Epi-Lipoic acid.

Anyone ever heard about this?

Talked to some people and researched everywhere but could find no reference for epi-lipoic acid
