ALA and weight loss

What's up everyone,
I was taking ALA about a year ago and stopped after awhile. The results I was getting were good...but I'm not sure if it was the ALA because I changed my diet and lifestyle at the time, and also started weight training. I know that ALA was huge a year ago, and everyone was raving about it. I'm wondering, what's everyone's position on ALA now - a year later? Is it recommended? How do you use it? What results have you had from taking it? I'm thinking about taking it again and want to know if this stuff is the real deal. I take creatine before workouts...I heard that ALA is good for creatine absorption...is that true?

I'm looking forward to your replies!

check out the r-ALA posts and the study Fonz did over at the anabolic board. But yeah, I for one am using it now to bulk, keeps fat off like a charm. I know alot have used it to diet food, its just one of those "too good to be true but is" supplements

It works.....not sure that the R version is worth the extra money......but the mix works well for me

ive been taking r-ala for the past month and last month took ala. Cant tell much of a difference between the two, but im eating way more carbs and have lost weight..well havent put any on.

eating more carbs has allowed my total cals to decrease..and thus i think that is another - or the main reason why i havent put on weight, dispite the increase in carbs.

I take the r-ala before any meal w carbs in - even low gi carbs, such as skim milk, yoghurt or fruit, and also after post workout carbs such as rice or sweet potato.

i used to be a carb-phob..i think its a mind thing...puts my mind at rest before i digest a carb meal.

anyone else?

I've never taken it without restricting calories, so I couldn't attribute a specific amount of weight loss to ALA. That said, it's definitely a great diet aid - the r-ALA obliterates my cravings and greatly diminishes bloat the day after a refeed. The racemic mix did to a lesser extent, but it lowered my blood sugar so fast sometimes regardless of dose or amount of carbs ingested, I'd nearly pass out. I'm sticking with the r-ALA...

if you dont eat a certain amount of carbs in your post r-ala meal, is it then ineffective? or more effective?
ie if u had 10g low gi carb and took 3 x r-ala (100mg) would it be a waste?
