Of course these teeny nations are signing. If I were a midget and Andre the Giant was walking around with a big-ass gun asking people to give him their spare change, you're down right I'd be handing over my change....

The UN, has established itself as it's own soverign entity, with rights to invade, disarm and occupy any nation it sees fit.

None of the little guys, with limited diplomatic power and even less firepower is going to deny the UN it's wishes.

I guess thats why every 1st world country but USA & japan have ratified the Roman statute (japan says they aren't ready yet, but they will be in a few years), because they are powerless.

When you do it statistically, more 1st world countries have ratified over 3rd world countries. And no mid-east countries have ratified (except jordan, i think). Only a few asian countries have ratified.

basically, if it were the way you portray it, every 3rd world country would ratify & no 1st world country would. It is the opposite. Every 1st has, and select geographic 3rd world ones have (africa, South america) whereas other geographic 3rd world countries (mideast, asia) have not.

Three Words:
Global Peer Pressure

Paranoid Xenophobe

I just think the UN has it's eye's set on being the One World Government. And that is a recipe for tyranny, considering how terribly wrong their "Bill of Rights" is.

i think they want to have some methods of control over other countries, but i don't think it will ever reach the level people are afraid of.

Famous last words.

i've seen no evidence that the UN is more dangerous to the world than the goverment of Canada is to canadians. Not all goverments are Stalin-esqe regimes.

I think the first red flag should be that they act like a soveriegn entity but have no actual land of their own.....

neither do senators but they pass laws
Senators have consituents who *voted* them into place. Senators make laws for their people.

I can't argue against that. The UN isn't democratic on an individual level, it is democratic on a bureaucratic level.
if they start destroying the world by letting qatar & ethiopia call the shots i'll worry about it. But they haven't so far. The security council (which needs a unanimous vote among its 5 permanent members in order to do peacekeeping) has russia, USA & china as permanent members. Peacekeeping hasn't destroyed the world.
