Just understand what it is you're looking for with this girl.

Don't get on her case when you discover that 21 yr old girls have different prioritiesand ambitions than a 31 year old man. It isn't her fault, it's just where she is at developmentally.

When you try to make them become "you" and where your at, that's when you will make the both of you miserable.

At 21 she probably still has some livin to do before she's ready to be a serious partner for anyone
 
I think age doesnt matter, I would date younger guys, heck i would date an older guy....:)
 
usually if it's moer than a decade. It gets kinda weird. AS long as you're born the same decade -- no one really looks.
 
id say it would be fine to date someone that much younger but dont expect it to last long LOL well, unless you have the mentality of a 21 yr old then it should work out just fine (which Im assuming you dont?)

LOL... I am 27 and have a 19 y/o g/f.

The being at different places in life worries me sometimes.... but it hasn't been an issue for us yet. Although... down the road she could realize she needs more time to be her and play before she can keep a real commitment...

We'll see... .

I have been there before... that is why it worries me. She thinks she knows what she wants.... but so did I....
 
Personally I NEVER dated below my age. I just can`t handle the silliness (believe it or not) lol The only woman 2 years younger than me, I married. Go figure.

Me too. Everyone I have dated has been within 2 years up or down at most.

I'm willing to go lower now though because of the hope of maybe having kids. If I dated someone my age now, and took the regular 2-3 years to get to know each other, get married etc that would be pushing the envelope for fatherhood.

Unless I just knock her up in the first couple of weeks, then do the other stuff later on

Depends how mature each of them are. Ten years really isn't that big of an age gap, if you ask me.

My boyfriend and I have an age gap much larger. We have no problems. Ocassionally people will say something but mostly its friend's joking. Although, last night was interesting. A little girl, about 10 yrs. old, her 13 yr. old sister, their father, my boyfriend and I went out to eat. The 10 yr. old asked me if I was in high school. When I told her I was 21, she told me she thought my boyfriend was my dad. That's a first!

Being your dad, and calling him Daddy, are two diifferent things.

I've never called him Daddy. I certaintly wouldn't start calling him that in front of children or anyone for that matter.

Yea I am only 21. Many assume I am much older. That's why I don't bother dating guys younger than me or close in age with me.

lol That`s cool. I`m not sure if it would be OK to do it with a big gap between your ages. Especially in front of other people. I was jk anyway.

Age does not = maturity


I have dated women old enough to be my mom. We had a lot of fun and were able to connect on the same level. That's what is important.

Unless you want to have kids, then other considerations have to be made.

People think of different things when they say the word "maturity."

Certainly "age" doesn't necessarily make anyone more intelligent, responsible, considerate etc etc

But there is something to the reality of just having lived longer. There are just certain things you cannot learn, you just have to live through them. There are certain perspectives that young people will just not share with those older than them (general statement).

I was always a responsible person. People have always told me I am mature for my age, even in my teens. But I am not the same person I was 5,10,15 years ago. Just living changes people.

Also, I think GL looks fat in that avatar
 
The older I get, the greater the age differential I find tolerable. I could easily date a woman twenty years younger than me now.

I'd have a tough time dating a girl older than me. I'm 27, and lets face it -- most single women around my age are looking to get hitched ASAP. That's not for me, so I usually find myself attracted to the 22-24 age bracket.
 
I have dated guys as much as 11 years older then me no biggie in my book as long as you didn't pick her up at loose change loise those girls are trouble. ;)
 
I really don't care about age; I've met 18 year-old girls that were incredibly wise, and 35 year-old women that were immature as all hell. As long as it's legal, and the person makes you happy....go for it!

I would say it is all good if neither of you mind about the differnce. I know coules that have a 20+ year age difference and they dont have any problems.

I'm 31 and my girlfriend is 21. Normally I am against dating women that young but yet here I am. In a rare circumstance it can work. The age different means next to nothing if you are 41 and she's 31.
 
It can work if you both want it to and make the neccessary adjustments.
 
Personally, i have never met a 21 year old that i can relate to. I'm 31 and there is simply too big an age gap in maturity and life experience for there to be any common ground.

The age gap becomes less of an issue when the younger of the two involved is say mid-late 20's, but at 21 it's just too young to be able to relate to IMO.

Good post. I agree but if it`s a one night stand, you can show them what they`ll be missing.
 
a buddy of mine in cali is 22 and he is dating a 46 year old woman.

I don't understand it but... he's 100% in love and the happiest he has ever been in life.

the formula is half your age plus seven
so half of 31 would be 15/16 plus seven gives you 22/23
 
It's not so much age but where you both really are in your life
