Advice on dips

I have never used dips in my routine for chest or tri's. Now I need to switch things up once again to try and keep growing. I want to know exactly how to do dips to work the tri's and not so much the chest. Do I have to stay as upright as possible without leaning forward or what's the deal?

lean forward into it. bend the kness as if u were in a kneeling position. flare your elbows out to the sides instead of keeping them close to your sides. this helps to really hit the outer lower and overall lower part of your chest. i do these as a chest exercise and do them second after incline dumbell presses. at my current bodyweight of 235 i strap on an extra 85-90 pounds and bang out 10 reps no problem. its great, and i def. think u should give it a try

I love then for tri's, use a narrow grip, drop till your elbows are at about a 90 degree angle, and try not to lean forward, really builds good tri thickness and helps with overall bench strength as well

I think dips are great. Love doing them... I might try tacking more weight when I do them. Now if I can only find a way to domore for calves... :)

how do you tack more weight on?
I notice this blue strap thing on the dip "machine", but i too am just starting dips now. Is this strap how I add extra weight?

I would assume that the best way would be to use rope and tie some to you... Hey, maybe try a backpack... Just suggestions. It is awkward when you tack weight onto things, but if you do it right, it should be fine. I know that it gets disgusting and depressing to rack something or not be able to fit any more weight onto a piece of equipment because then you have to find out what you can do to do more. :(

Trial and error, my friend. Let me know how it works out for you.

Yeah, well I figured I'd throw around a few suggestions... :) I think that whatever works should be used 'til it works no longer. I am really trying to thicken the tris as it has been a task for a while.

if u want bro try training tri's no more than once a week to allow for extra recovery days. also do core exercises like E-Z bar overhead tricep extensions or lying tricep extension(skullcrushers)
heavy dips, and heavy pushdowns. keep it basic and simple. growth should follow as long as your eating enough. again though this is just a basic example as every individual is different and reacts differently. give it a try.

I give 7-8 days of rest for most parts. However, some are ready to go sooner. Of course... get some sauce and recover quicker... :) Different story altogether. But seriously, I make sure there is enough recovery time for each part and take it from there. I get great pumps as it is, I just always look for more. I guess if I didn't look for more, there would be no point to it. Gotta keep making goals.

I will. My key is to blast the shit out of myself. When I set foot in the gym, it is all about intensity. Next wrestling show I do, I want to look really good. If it wasn't for the wrestling, I'd probably do nothing with my life. :)
