My grandfather had only a few years of college education. I guess that back in the day this counted as a lot, but given that his father was a doctor and his mother had a PhD. in zoology, it was relatively little.
I can remember him telling me this early on and the older I get, the more I appreciate and understand the wisdom of it.
"In order to achieve success, you need three things: determination, enthusiasm, and articulation."
He used this advice and went from working in the mail room of one of this country's top insurance companies to becoming the chief executive of their New York office - not just their largest office, but where the execs from all the other offices were initially trained.
I hope this is as helpful and inciteful to you as it is to me.
