yeah stay off it for a few months. they replace the ACL with one from a cadaver. It takes time to heal. My friend had his done and was back in the gym and at work in a month... he is doing fine and he lays carpet for a living, so the succes rate is very high. Good luck with it man.
I just had an ACL done about 3 months ago. I did rehab for three weeks had the surgury, I did a patellar tendon graph, you have a choice. Patellar tendon or hamstring ligament, up to you. I'm still in rehab, probaly for another 3 month, I'm at work and lifting. I had some complications, but I'm still doing alright.
I suggest see the doctor, do the rehab, and lay off of it for a while, you'll be good to go in no time at all.

Also just though I'd mention there's this new procedure where you can get a carbon fiber ACL. The professional skater Danny Way tore his original ACL, then tore its replacement, and his doctors said "Fuck it, let's put one in that's gonna last."
