advanced keto question

Ok... so if you have to stay under 20g of carbs a day to stay in ketosis... and if your body can create glucose through gluconeogenesis....

can you kick yourself out of ketosis by eating TOO much protein? I am eating around 60g of protein x 5 = 300g at 153lbs of LBM

this was working to keep me in ketosis and massively drop weight up until these last two weeks because of life I have been too tired and too busy to "properly" hit the gym...

I have lost a lot of the intensity but I'll still lift for an hour or hour and a half every other day. I'm wondering if all the extra protein I was eating is now being converted to glucose and kicking me out of ketosis. is this possible? or is it the handful of nuts I had 4 days ago...

I assume you are using the strips to determine if you are in ketosis??

I'd suggest after all this time that you do a carb cycling type.. 100g complex carbs 2x week, split 3 days apart..

that would really get your energy up and going..

yea, I have been testing every couple hours all day (had the day off work, why not right?) and yea, not in ketosis. i'm a little confused, it's been working great for a month or two now...

so what am I doing wrong? and what are the carbs for, what do they do? ... I am assuming something like oatmeal or brown rice right?

thanks for your advice btw

so.... I necked down my protein intake a little, maybe down to 35-40g of protein a meal and maybe 100 calories from fat, today and last night. plus some cardio for 20 minutes with HR in the 170s-190s, plus some heavy lifting chest/back/lats/traps

today i am running purple in ketosis.

- I think I have to be lifting intensely to get my body to demand the extra protein - otherwise it converts it all to glucose and kicks me out or makes me run trace ketosis.... I don't have any proof or evidence... but just what I have noticed.

Thanks for your help.. when I get down to 10% bf, I'll start doing the carb cycling idea. - thanks again for it.

Tony.

I think also, experimenting with my diet you have to have enough dietary fat to keep your self in ketosis... anyone know of any natural/legal food "additives" that help metabolize fat so I can get my own fat stores to metabolize off faster?

such as say caffeine or maybe ephedrine or sudoephedrine? ... or is this not legal talk here in this forum location... :/ ... ?

Tony.
