Adderall/Ritalin from

Adderall/Ritalin prescription

I have 2 documents from about 10 years ago that diagnose me with some Attentional Deficit Disorder. These came from a series of tests that were done on me when I was about 14.

One document is a letter from a pediatric neurologist and the other is an educational evaluation from an educational consultant that admistered some tests and then wrote a large summary on my issues.

I was put on some medication, can't remember which one. I dont remember when I stopped taking the meds or why, it was some time during my junior or senior year in high school.

Anyway, I am going to a doctor soon and would like to get a prescription for Adderall.

My question for the board is this.

Will these two documents and my explanations of my current problems studying, paying attention in class be enough to get Adderall?

What if he puts me on ritalin, can I ask for a certain prescription?

And most importantly, I plan on going to my general medicine doctor. Will he be able to help me or should I just call his office and ask him to refer me to an Adult Neurologist? I want to take care of this as quickly as possible, I have finals and stuff coming up and I am having a really hard time with school right now.

You should be going to a psychiatrist. Or at least this is who I went. I would think the fact that you were at one time prescribed medication it will help your chances of getting it in the future.

I was diagnosed with ADD about 2 years ago. The medication (adderall) does help when I have many boring tasks that need to be done. But I hate how I feel after I take them continually for 4 weeks or so at a time. Even after I lowered my dose to 1/3 of what I originally prescribed I still feel like shit after continually use.

Good luck.

Adderall is a combination of 2 or 3 different amphetamines so it is in a different DEA classification than ritalin. I would assume what you're perscribed depends on the severity of your disorder.

Actually they are both CII controlled substances in the same class as morphine, cocaine, PCP, ketamine and oxycontin

adderall contains a racemic mixture of both d and l amphetamine and then has 2 different salts of each enatiomer

i know that many of you may disagree, and this is my OPINION, but no matter how you classify adderall, it is SPEED, regardless. similar in many aspects to cocaine (just snort the shit and find out for yourself!). i don't care how bad someone's ADD is, adderall will have serious side effects and is not worth taking.

what you should really do is get the script, have insurance pay for it, and sell em to your coke-head friends!!! they'll love em!!!

from a current ADD sufferer who was previously diagnosed also as a child and onritalin i cna tell you that. They will probably evaluate what you have if they can ind the records because i believe the shelf life of records at DR office is like 7 years befor ethye cna throw them out unless you own them now. He will prob ask you around 14 ? that re telll tale signs without trying to really trick u at all and then hell suggest things since youve already taken meds for this before...

I was diagnosed with ADD years ago. I've been off and on adderall/ritalin for quite some time.

Chrisalm, you shouldn't have any problem getting it if that's the case. Just go see a psychiatrist. You will have to sit down and explain it to them. If you've been prescribed Ritalin in the past, it shouldn't be an issue.

There are some psychiatrists who are rather down on it right now, and it's understandable. The stuff can be horribly addictive, and there are some who cannot control their dose. It has, however, worked wonders for my concentration.

Right now I'm currently looking into Strattera, which is a non-stimulant drug that is new. Will let you guys know if that works out.

Bottom line is it depends on which doctor you go to. I don't mean which specialty, but the individual.
Although I doubt any doctor will write you a script on your first appointment for controled meds.

actually genarr, i have to disagree with you (which is probably the first time i ever have, so don't bust my chops about it). in my experience, doctors give this stuff out pretty easily. in fact, i have been offered prescriptions for dexedrin (sp?) and adderall by just filling out simple questionnaires. and its REAL easy to fill those out to get the script. i had a friend who visited with a doc concerning ADD issues, and upon leaving his first visit, he left with a prescription for 60 mg/day, which is a TON! it is ridiculous. that amount of adderall would change someone's whole personality. its almost scary.

If you suffer from adult ADD, then check out the new med, Strattera. It is just as effective as the class II controlled substances Ritalin and Adderal, but safer. Lastly, Strattera is not a controlled substance.

that stuff is terrible.... its a norepinephrine up take inhibitor and i could sleep on that stuff.

Yeah I'm more interested in Adderall or Ritalin than Stratera or Concerta. I'm worried that if the doc decides to give me a drug I'm not interested in taking or one that I dont feel will be as effective I wont have any say in the matter.

I guess if the doc wants to give me Stratera I really can't do anything about it.

I'm going to call my regular doc and see if he wants me to come in or if he just refers me to someone else.
The only reason I haven't gone yet is that I am waiting for my new medical insurance card to show up in the mail, it seems like it is taking forever.

I'll post the results as soon as I get this done.

why aren't you interested in strattera? is it because it isn't an upper? if i were you i would certainly look into the safest viable option first (strattera) and go from there. just my opinion again.

I have ADD and as with you they took me to two doctors at 12 years old. I than went back at 20 for college help without my parents and they gave it to me with no questions asked, and yes I told him what type I wanted. They hand that shit out like candy!!!

Maybe it depends on what part of the country you're in. I find it difficult to get sleep aids, let alone Valium. And those two are nothing compared to Ritalin/Aldderal, at least from my experience with those drugs. I've only used Ritalin once during some late night studing, and man that stuff will wire you up like nothing else.

Around here if you go into the doctors office and ask for a controled drug you're usually labeled as a "drug seeker".

The reason I'm not intersted in Strattera isn't that I want an "upper". I'm not looking for a recreation drug here. The main reason I want Adderall is because I've used it before (friends) at school during finals and mid-terms and I know for a fact it works like a champ.

I guess I am downplaying the negative side-effects of Adderall since I've never experienced them and don't plan on using the drug everyday.

thats cool, i understand. adderall worked wonders for me too when it came to cramming during finals. but for me, after using it a few times, the come down was just too harsh. it seemed to get worse the more i used it. and anyone else who's had bad experiences coming down from speed knows how bad it can get. i felt like a meth-head; a sped-out zombie...

What do you mean, many of your clients? Are a doctor? What kind?

No, not a Dr. - A psychotherapist. I do work closely with the psychiatrist however and that is the trend at the present time.

Does anyone other than me find it somewhat disturbing that these drugs are being handed out so easily especially to kids? Now, we have adult add to medicate the rest of the population? Granted there are some who may benefit from these meds but... as one person put they are prescribing thm like candy? Just wondering what you all thought about this disturbing new trend, at least those who can pay attention this long. :)

i think we shouldnt talk about this shit on this board

I agree.

Where are the new Mods?

Lets go, step up. Move this. This has nothing to do with Anabolics.

Its not that I am insensitive, its just not pertinent to this board. Period. I mean, I feel sorry for cancer patients, but we dont chat about Chemo here either.

Move this.

It may not be an Anabolic, but I have seen threads in this forum regarding Adderall use for cutting, energy, focus during workouts.

Aside from that, I have also seen threads in this forum concerning Adderall and its ADD use.

Along with knowing I would receive an educated response from this community, this was the reason I posted my questions here.

Sorry if I ticked you off with it.

No one ticked me off, I am not ticked off.

They were wrong to post those threads here, the same with this one.

Would be nice to have the new mods step up and keep the board on-topic.

Nothing poersonal, its just wrong. I do wish you luck in your serach.
