Can I get some examples of good upper body active recovery exercises? I don't have any bands (yet). Could I do some very light dumbell work?

with active recovery work you want to avoid weighted eccentric motion, and subsequently doms....so dumbell work is an option though not the best one. Get some bands, at least a set of mini's or lights, they will not only make speed day more usefull but they will be an easy way to do your active recovery. A sled can also be used and it will allow you to work your upper body with literally no eccentric loading.

in the meantime you could go to the gym the day after your upper work and do 1 set of 8-12 with every exercise you did the day before but with about half the weight. Don't rest between exercises and don't use a weight that will cause you to struggle at all.

light weight, very high reps, flush the muscle. The sled is dynamite, you just have to be a little creative.

There was something on elitefts about one of the guys suing Matt Furrey's combat conditioning system. You could do some farmer's walks, as strong as you are you may consider pushing a car around. (Take it out of park first lol.)

Thanks guys.

It seems like a lot of the time, GPP=AR. At least when it comes to sled work. The sled dragging is conditioning, but it's also helping the muscles recover. 2 birds w/1 stone.
