Acromegaly

i know that acromegaly is caused by excess of hgh. but can this happen to someone who uses ghb on a regular basis?

someone else asked me this and I thought i'd ask it over here

If you are prediposed to have acromegaly then HGH will increase the progress/wake it from its dormancy upon use. If it is not in your genes then you have nothing to worry about. So keep your doses low just to be safe.

MaGilicuti, the effects of Acromegaly are caused by IGF-1, not really GH. What happens is, your body continues to release GH because it's self-regulating mechanisms are not releasing any or enough IGF-1 (which is the signal for the body to reduce GH production). IGF-1 is also the inhibitor to continued bone and growth plate enlargement. So, provided you are not already prone to Acromegaly, in theory, your body would combat excessive GH with IGF-1. Now, taking GH exogenously obviously throws this out of whack some, but taking GHB, which really only stimultes the body to produce GH, isn't going to be enough that your body cannot counteract it with IGF-1 production. Basically, if you don't already have Acromegaly (indicated by a lack of proper body control mechanisms), taking GHB is not going to cause it.

I hope I was clear there. For more information on Acromegaly, this is a good read:

The Link

The link with the sides lists the following:

Overgrowth of bone and cartilage often leads to arthritis. When tissue thickens, it may trap nerves, causing carpal tunnel syndrome, characterized by numbness and weakness of the hands. Other symptoms of acromegaly include thick, coarse, oily skin; skin tags; enlarged lips, nose and tongue; deepening of the voice due to enlarged sinuses and vocal cords; snoring due to upper airway obstruction; excessive sweating and skin odor; fatigue and weakness; headaches; impaired vision; abnormalities of the menstrual cycle and sometimes breast discharge in women; and impotence in men. There may be enlargement of body organs, including the liver, spleen, kidneys and heart.

Does this mean that GH can cause impotence as well?
