Hey all not sure exactly where to post this but i have a lil acne problem.

i only get it on my nose...not on the rest of my face and minimally on my body. Currently im not taking anything no creatine or pro-hormones or roids ..nothing.

i was wondering without going on accutane (i cant cause of the marines) what is the best topical cream to use? or what you people use to keep the acne off. I have pantothenic acid and it works ok...(Its in pill form, i know i know not as potent) just looking for some tips cause its pissing me off to no end..

Any help is appreciated

Matt

Matt, try going to your dermotologist and asking them about "Benzamycin". It's a facial cream that I used for about 5 yrs and it worked GREAT. It's a concentrate benzoyl peroxide, with some other stuff as well. I was getting my ASS KICKED in the battle with acne until I got ahold of this stuff. It does ok for keeping the zits away, but does GREAT for making them go away fast when they appear. It's also covered by insurance, so go check it out....

I wouldn't recommend Acutane if you like going outside a lot. That stuff makes your skin VERY sensitive, and sun light would be a no no. A couple of good rules to use........Wash your face at least twice a day, once in the morning and before you go to bed. Change your pillow cases VERY often, and keep your sheets clean.

Good luck!

thanks for the tips... i have about 20 days till i deploy so i guess im just lookin for somethin to hold me off.

like over the counter ? anyone else with some help?

You didn't mention what, if anything you have already tried, so...give Oxy or any of those type of creams and soaps a try if you haven't. You have to be religious about using them.

When you get back from your deployment, get an appointment at your clinic on base. Talk to the PA and if they won't prescribe something, have them refer you to a dermatologist. Depending on the size of your base, you may have to make a trip to another base to actually see a dermatologist, but there should be one within driving distance.

When I was in the military, my ex-wife (also military) used the medical system for everything it was worth. Just remember, they pay those people, so you might as well make use of them.

benzamyacin does work good but it has to be refrigerated i dont know if this would be an inconvenience to you. accutane is really the only thing that worked for me i tried everything supplements over the counter and prescription.

Get salicylic acid, 2.0%

This is the active ingredient in MOST stridex pads, etc... look for it on the label. Use it after washing your face in the morning and before bed... and wash your face frequently .. after sweating, etc...

dont squeeze, pop, or touch anything on your nose!!!

i did this and cleared up my back acne in 1 1/2 weeks.

If you are taking a Whey based protein supplement you may be allergic to it

If I take too much Whey in a give day, my back/face erupts into cystic acne.. not little zits like a teen, we're talking the 'before' picture for those acne products they sell at 2 am in the morning :)

as soon as I stop the whey, a week later It claers up.. I've tried all the different wheys too..

:(

Retin-A would be option that they could prescribe and would not require to be refridgerated.. i would stay away from the Accutane unless you have severe acne.. it makes you feel way too fucked up and your facial skin becomes very sensitive (that seems to have become permanent for me)

okay, i have been using some creme prescribed by my doc for like 5 or so yers now, it helps get rid of them quick... some compound /nutr,panox 5% aa:cl 2%... i apply it 2x daily..

acne started getting worse this past year, i started using clean & clear foaming facial cleanser and oil fighting astringent 2x daily along with that cremem/lotion... seemed to help... not for long.. then i tried proactive (which seemed the same, a cleanser, astringent, lotion).. didnt do anything,,

2 weeks ago i started taking pantothenic acid 500mg pills.. i take 7 in the morning, 7 in the afternoon, 6 in the evening... started washing my face with teatree oil soap 2 or 3x a day, and when i shower (once a day) i wash with nizoral shampoo... i was using witch hazel as an astringent, but was only applying it to current acne to get rid of the wounds...

right now, i am stoked!!!!!! i havnt had a new zit since saturday and my skin is looking pretty good, hopefully it will continue.
