Ab Workouts !!!

Ok so i did an experiment !!! for the past month I have followed Larry Scott's (one time Mr O) ab theory in that when I do any ab work, i never hook my feet under anything etc...... he says that people who do leg raises or hook their feet under something are heavily working their iliopsoas muscles instead of their abs !!!

So i did like ab crunches with my legs hanging over a bench or like an workout ball and did them just solo or with like a dumbbell on my chest... and really focused on squeezing at the top and holding that for 3 seconds......
and i must say my abs have never felt harder and they are popping out alot more from when i was doing all that other ab stuff with my legs hooked or leg raises !!! Maybe it just worked for me but man that helped my abs big time !!!
old school is the best !!!

try it and tell me what you think !!! im curious to see if it works for anyone else.

i will try that tonight, i'll let ya know how it feels!
i've got another great one i picked up at boxing lessons (posted it before i think), here's what ya do...

lie down on the floor, arms besides you, legs stretched before you. now raise your legs 10 cm (about 4 inches) and hold for 10 seconds (harder than it sounds....make those seconds slow), then raise for another 10 cm, hold again for 10 secs. repeat until you're legs are vertical and then work your way back down in the same fashion.
i guarantee you won't be disappointed! (lol i'm sounding like one of those ab machine salesmen)

Never heard of Larry Scott...but he's on the money with this one. People use their hip flexors way too much when doing abs.

The worst people I see doing this are most of the people that do hanging leg-raises.

i must say that hanging your legs over something works MUCH better...i tried it and it felt great.

Read Punch's "Training with Frank Zane" post for a killer ab workout. We've now incorporated it into our Westside Program. Its absolutely insane!!! :chomp: Very similar to what yer doing I'd imagine Mikey,..give it a try.
