A STL Saturday...:)

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman
Platinum
Had a good one with some guys in STL. Night Fly and I went up Saturday morning and trained for about 5 hours and had a blast. Eagle Gym is awesome!!!!

Stones
1 full run of all the stones
404 stone placed...felt easier than last time.

Silver Dollar Deadlift 18", conventional only
several warm ups
880 x 1 (loose belt only) PR!!!!
920 x 0 (loose belt and straps)

Log Press
270 x 1 x 2 sets...EASY

Farmers Walk
several warm ups only

Tire Flip
600 lb tire for several singles and triple...working on form only.

Here is a pic of me getting the 404 stone to my lap...it was a BIG rock!!!

880 on the silver dollar deadlift...talk about fun..lol. Grip almost gave out too...almost.

Night Fly doing the 170 pound each farmers....!!!!!

Night Fly doing the harness pull with a Ford Explorer...up hill!!!!! TWICE!!!

She also placed the 180 stone several times and almost placed it on a platform that was 5' tall. She is only 5'6". It slipped and fell...but she had it up there...technique error.

You should really try the harness pull sometime...talk about setting your quads and calves on fire...ouch!!!!

Well I hope you to are available when I move. The only really problems is my big screen tv it weight close to 300lbs and I live on the nineth floor. Damn you two are strong sound like one fun day. Nice PR on the deads B

that 880 deadlift must have been a bitch to clean up :)

haha...I thought 840 was loaded on the bar. I wanted to do 840 to set a PR then do 900 to see what I could get. Wasn't listening to a thing they said when they said...want us to put 880 on the bar? Didn't know what it was till after I pulled it.

either way it is impressive as hell...
how high up did the box start you? a bit below knee level??
i think you could pull close to that if you put on a deadlift suit. That would be some impressive stuff.
I get all pissed when i have to clean up 335... i cant imagine taking off like 9 plates on each side.

And good job to night fly too, she had some pretty impressive feats of strength also.

The bar was actually about 5-6" below mid knee level. It was still pretty deep for me. There was another guy who had recently set a suit PR with 600 from the floor and did either 650 or 700 on Saturday in the silver dollar.

It is just a different motion for me, feels strange. I can't get much leg drive and run the risk of using lower back only when I do them.

It was not fun...but there were 5 of us training and we used 100's mostly.

Eagle Gym is one cool gym. Stones, tire, log, farmers, kegs, harness, etc.... Just look at the pics...loved it.

My God man, I can feel my spine compressing just looking at that deadlift pic. Remind me to quit mouthing off to you. :)

i bet i could fit inside that atlas stone.. its huge! Why dont you train at eagles more often? too long of a commute?

And wow, 5-6 inches below your knee.... i think you could get a 700 normal dead w/in a month after seeing that.

We did a light board press, tric extension, face pull, rotator cuff workout today. Helped us to loosen up quite a bit.

Yeah..that 404 stone stinks!!!! I want one though...lol. Want to try a bigger one too!!!! :)

Eagle Gym is 4 hours away...kinda long drive just to get a workout but you learn in this sport from experience. It is like playing basketball...you need to practice on different courts with different teams. Every piece of strongman equipment feels different and everyone has a new idea on how to do an event better. That is where I learn...from experience.

Just found out that there are some guys about 45 minutes South of me who have started strongman training. They have the stones, tires, farmers, etc...gonna start going there from time to time!!!

Working on my web site now too...sent some pics to a company about a sponsorship just a few mintest ago!!!!

im sure this idea may sound a bit ludacris... but here's an idea on a way to draw attention to yourself to gain a sponsor.

Dress up in blue spandex tights , and some red spandex shorts, wear some blue spandex long sleeve shirts, on the front draw a big red and yellow "B", and then take an old blue towel and write a giant red and yellow "B" on it, and then you have your costume. A nice super man hybrid..............
Also, you could buy a pair of glasses so you could look sophisticated.

Besides that, good luck finding a sponsor, and getting a website up

You are too funny...lol.

With my feet as big as they are...they were calling me "Scuba Steve" this weekend...lol

That pic just reminded me that I was gonna start doing partials from lower down.......could be interesting to see what I can get from that height :).

Just sit the bar to where it is about 18" from the ground...or less.

Well I did em and got marginally more than I get for a 'full-range' deadlift.......which is a bit of a kick in the teeth. The position is very awkward and my knees get in the way (the bar is about 3 inches below my knobbly knees when I start).

At least I have somewhere to work from now lol.

It is very strange. Me being able to get a weight on the pull is greatly determined by my speed. Pulling from this height greatly cuts down on my speed...a lot!!!!

Not for sure how effective this lift is for increasing your deadlift...but it MAY be like finding the board press which is hardest for you and doing it to bring up your bench press. Does that make sense?

You might be able to find the certain position which is hard for you and train it often to bring up your sticking point on your full pull...maybe.

What you are saying makes sense to me......and was one of the reasons that I was determined to give it a try. Whats weird is, if I put the bar just above my kneecaps I can pull close to 200lb more than when it is at the height that I used.

Reckon I'll keep working on these for a while.

I hear ya...pulling from where I did the other day was HARD. It was in a very bad position. What is wild about this deadlift is that on some of the shorter people...the bar sits at the center of their knee cap. On me it was 5" below center. Even though I may be "built to deadlift" I still have to pull from lower than those who are shorter...

Find your weak point...and kill it!!!

i bet the silver dollar deadlift would be up to my lower thigh... but i could still only get maybe 400.
B- hows the webstie and sponser search coming?

I have 1 sponsor so far that is helping me with my next contest. He is actually a member of Elite...taking my dreams one step further.

Still working on my site...hope I have some hair left by the time I get it put up...lol.

I will be helping Saint to get his company off the ground. He is helping me out greatly...just hope that I can produce results for him.
