A rant on the Brokeback Homophobes.

You people who shit on that movie because it's about two homosexual men need to watch the movie, then talk some shit. First off, it is a great movie. Why is it great? Because just about anyone heterosexual or homosexual, feels bad for the two protagonists. So the film does cause one to feel emotion which is it's purpose. It got nominated for awards by mostly heterosexuals because it was a great movie. My guess is one shitting on the movie is either a right-wing man with children and a nice little family who feels the need to establish himself as straight or a homophobe who is uncomfortable with his sexuality. Probably both. Speaking of right-wing heterosexual homophobes, there are plenty of them in the movie. So watch the movie and see if you want to look like the right-wing heterosexual homophobes.

Also, there is plenty of heterosexual sex and female teets in the movie as well.

all I know is that every person who made a brokeback mountain cheesy fucking joke in their life needs to die immediately. it's not funny, witty, interesting, challenging or unique.

enderje has made about 700 of them on EF already.

I liked it. The visuals did, admittedly, make me uncomfortable. Maybe because of the almost violent interactions between the guys.

Yeah ... it maybe a good movie, but watching grown men swap spit would make me uncomfortable now matter what Wootoom thinks.

Wootoom where are you? I know you're up in the thread somewhere.

I'm not a homophobe at all and I am a film buff, I love a good movie so I tried to watch it.

I just couldn't watch the sex scenes, sorry I guess that makes as bad as the guys that killed him at the end right???

The sex scenes were very intense but I'm not sure if the male-on-male scenes were much worse than the male-on-female scenes. They could be, I'd have to watch it again. The male on male scenes did get to me but the whole movie other than those few minues was amazing.

I'm talking about the people who have made comments saying, 'Oh that's Brokeback' etc. The scenes made me feel odd too but it's supposed to challenege most people.

They should edit out the fudge packing scences and sell a str8 version.

No. There is a huge difference between not liking something and killing someone because of it.
I make brokeback jokes at work everyday. Mainly because it makes the homophobes there uncomfortable. ;)

I thought the movie was overhyped and mediocre before I saw it and I think the same thing after I have now seen it. The problem with BM is it relies too much on the whole gay factor. Switching out a man and woman for two gay characters into an otherwise tired and predictable storyline does not automatically improve a movie. The movie had great scenery and the acting was above average but the movie is a study in selfishness. Both men know they were gay, or at least had gay tendencies from the beginning of the movie, yet they chose to ignore that and got married to women and bring children into the situation. They both decide to cheat on their wives with each other and end up divorcing, greatly impacting their wives and children lives, all for their own selfishness. If the two characters were a man and a woman cheating on each other, not denying their "true feelings", nobody would have had any sympathy for their consequences. Just because they happen to be gay does not make their purpose any more grander than two straight people fucking around on their spouses. If gays want equal treatment then this is the way I see it compared to straight people. They have no business getting married and bringing kids into their world, only to destroy that world by adultery and divorcing. Doesnt matter if straight or gay.

Please... it's not supposed to challaenge anybody, It's simply for shock value. and to be the "1st" to show something like that.

And I made Brokeback comments about "The Sopranos" because the gay sex scenes were totally unnessary and like a kick in the teeth for the loyal fans and the target demographic(straight males around 30).

And I fully understand the reasoning behind the gay storyline(besides trying to ride the wave of "BrokeBack mountain") that they're trying to show modernization of the mob, but the gay sex scenes, and the gay storyline stretching across 3 and prabaly 4 tonight is totally unessary.

i knew pick3 would post in her LOL

The first thing I thought of when I saw that abbreviation of the movie was "bowel movement". I had to bring that up the connection was just there.

The whole Vito plot line is great. I'm glad they showed some of it because it wouldn't really be believable. Keep in mind, they showed the scenes for a reason. They could have showed the scenes to prep the viewer for the death of Vito. By showing those scenes to people like you who shy away at homosexuality, then the viewer will agree with the killing of Vito. That could be a reason. But anyways, they show it because the show is raw and real -- no filler. Which is why it's not tv, It's HBO.

"By showing those scenes to people like you who shy away at homosexuality, then the viewer will agree with the killing of Vito"

WTF??? sooo by being repulsed by 2 men fucking each other in the ass, that means that I "agree" with killing them??

# 1..I am not a homophobe, I have gay friends, several of them. Is it really so hard to understand that I simply don't want to see them fuck each other??

I'm just trying to find a reason why someone who 'isn't a homophobe' is so repulsed by seeing gay sex. You'd watch two heterosexuals have sex I assume but two gay people repulses you and you're not a homophobe?

let me guess, you think I'm using the the "I have gay friends" phrase to validate the fact that I have no problem with people being gay right??

meh whatever.

I'm not racist, I have friends that are black.

Are you serious??

you gotta be fuckin with me.

I find the act repulsive, but I also find extreme bondage and feet fetishes repulsive. None of that means I don't beleive they should be allowed to do what they want in the privacy of thier own home.

Finding the act repulsive does not make me a homophobe.

Did you watch the movie? If so, why do you think he died after being killed by other guy in it?

P.S. One of the greater mysteries of Brokeback that the director refused to comment on was exactly how he was killed in the movie.

I thought he got the shit beat out of him and he died.

yeah, Stilleto said that very thing just this morning. :D

That is incorrect.

His wife said on the phone that he was changing a tire and it blew out hitting him in the head and killing him. Which is true as that has happened to people before.

The scene you saw of the people beating him to death was what was played out in the mind of Ennis as he was picturing him getting beat to death based on his own fears of society's reactions. That is simply what Ennis thought happened.

Then there was the underlying concept that the man's father-in-law had him killed for defying him and upsuring his role as head of the entire family (remember the turn the tv off scene).

Yes, you're absolutely right. Wish I would've been here to get that clear. That scene of the men beating Jack was the culmination of the fear that Ennis had if society would find out.

BTW, that old man reminds me of Longhorn or Biteme.

I'm just trying to point out the double-standard gays have to face. If two gay men were to get it on, other straight people would say it's repulsive. You don't see many gays saying heterosexuality is repulsive do you? That's all I'm trying to point out. I just think repulsive is a bit of a strong word to use if you're not a homophobe.

It was nominated for awards by the LEFT WING HOLIWOOD ELITES, not the average heterosexuals as you would have us believe. Being a homophobe would require that you cannot live with, work with or otherwise associate with homosexuals. That excludes me. To support a movie that pushes someone's belief in homosexuality is not in my being, good movie or bad.

I can't remember any of their names, but the guy #1 stayed married, simply because the other guy wouldn't commit. He had it relatively good, so he stayed. Guy #2 really couldn't accept himself, that's why he ended up being such a fuckup.
I believe they both got married, because it was the 60's (50's?) and homosexuality wasn't tolerated, especially in the west.
The scene where Jack is killed was Ennis's view of a scene that Jack had told him he had seen as a child. Jack's father had taken him to see the body of a man that had been beaten for being gay. I think that is what Ennis believed happened to Jack.
