A question about the Internet and compassion

First let me say that this is not related to any single event on this board, but is about the Internet in general.

Why do some people decide to attack others who are seeking genuine advice or comfort?

I know that it has to do with some people not being old enough to really know what life is about, but that excuse does not apply to all. I mean is it all that hard to offer support or compassion to someone? Why kick people when they are down?

Someone told me that it is people's true nature coming out, because they know there are no real consequences for their behavior. They have the anonymity of the net and can say and behave here the way they wish they could in real life.

I'm just curious as to what others here thought. I know that I will get the usual BS answers from some people, but I would like the truth from the rest.

My explanation applies to real life aswell. Ive always heard this, but didnt see it untill recently, and have seen it well. 90% of guys are ASSHOLES.

I agree with you bro. I also think that when some people get behind a computer they feel like it's a game and they derive pleasure from drawing emotions out of people . I recently read a story about a kid that visits an online gaming forum, and he confessed on the board that he was considering killing himself that night and the members of the forum egged him on and called him pussy if he did not do it. We'll, he ate a bunch of pills but luckily one of the moderators of the forum was smart enough to call the police and they found the kid passed out in his room, his parents had no clue... he barely survived.

Because it makes them feel better about their sorry lives.

Also, they get to do it hiding behind a computer.

Some people are just mean-spirited and cannot fathom
why other people are happy and not them.

Its also a lot easier to attack people then to help them

(That above should be the motto of the Chat board btw)

The list goes on and on.......

Normally, its bearable. But sometimes it even shocks me.

You're describing everything and everyone in black and white.

That I disagree with.

Niceness and compassion comes in different shades of grey.

its only an internet forum, they dont know each other, dont sleep with each other (a shame really) dont speak face tah face ,so thats why people bullshit on the www.
Its sad when people believe bullshit on the www.

Its sad people attack each other just cause they got different views....but does this happen in the real world as well?
