I use ice on my lower legs after running, but usually not at other times. It should be ok to use it throughout the day, right? Specifically, when I wake up? Is icing contraindicated at such a time, or any other time? My purpose is simply to speed recovery so I can be as fresh as possible for the next run. I suppose it's most useful right after running, but if doing it at other times will help, I will do it. I'm not hurting throughout the day, however, so I wouldn't be doing it to manage pain.
