In general, we North Americans need to be a little more accepting of each other. We are the best examples in the world of how do to several things:
1. Democratic free market economies
2. Standards of living
3. General legal codes and rights
4. Relations of unequal partners
That last one is what Im on about. Canada is a Middle power and in that clasification, one of the best. We can be proud in the knowldege that, eventhough we do not have a massive military machine, we still do effect the political dicisions and change in the world. Christ the Unitied NAtions was a Canadian idea supported by the US and won our Prime Minister at the time the Noble peace price. No one can deny that when you need physical help, the US is there to park an aircraft carrier off the beach and settle things, but there is our place too at the table as 'honest broker".
I like the fact that cCanada was there when it counted even if the impact was not great given our size.
In WW1 and WW2 canada sent the largest PERCENTAGE of its population into war of all allied countries.
It ant easy talkin proud when you live next to such a powerfull large friend. We both have our problems. Lets just try and show the world how its done.
