A proposal on gas prices going through the Ontario legislator...

Dam happy about this. We have a patio in the back so people can still smoke out there but not the rest of the bar. It happend over 5 years ago in my hometown and they didn't have many problems.
I do feel bad for bars and restaurants that spent the money to put in a smoking room that is going to suck.

That seems bizarre to me.

The bars are complaining, saying they'll lose business. As if smokers will forevermore stay home on a friday night and play yahtzee.

Meanwhile, a private membership.. now that's a great way to make people choose a different club to go to.. Who wants to bother with that?

We went last year and they have people working for city that go to establements and bust either owner or individuals.

The first few months were warning periods.

The fines are big and you dont' see anyone smoking in the bars and clubs. I love it and so do my contact lenses.

Even private clubs here have to abide by the law, hopefully it will be a provincial law soon and not just our city and Brandon.

Even my smoker friends like it better at bars and clubs.

Do to tourism in Toronto that is highly unlikely to happen here and I can't think of one bar in Waterloo that went private to get around the ban.

all the memberships really are is a 2-5$ fee and you get a little card,but it is a pain in the butt having to sign up everytime you want to goto a new bar

But it helps the scummy downtown bars who cant keep business due to this ban

dont they have price signs posted up visible from the street? gas prices are changing on a pretty much daily basis here. it would make no sense for them to have 2 signs instead of 1.

I think 3 days is a bit much but a 24 hour notice that it will go up 10 cents would be great. Two signs does not seem like that much to me.

its mainly downtown bars considering it since they are small to begin with and dont have the room for smoking rooms like the bigger better places
