a little secret about me

well since i was about 5 years old i use to get beat by my moms boyfriend, he would sneak up behind me and punch me in the side of my head so hard i use to collapse like a sack of jello. of course i was only 5 and i couldnt do shit about it. so every night he would come drunk id have to watch my back because that was his favorite thing to do, i guess he loved the fact that he can knock out a 5 year old cold with one punch to side of my head :worried: ..this contunued all the way till i ran away when i was 14. now fast forward 15 years and im clinicly deaf in both ear's as he blew both of my ear drums out of the years.

elitefiness has been a god send to me as i can finally talk and listen to what people say and interact in ways i couldnt even imagine in real life..


i feel at home finally

Is this guy still around? Have you gotten him back for all of this?

I am willing to bet that well over half of us experienced pain in our youth. You are doing the right thing by talking about it.

The hard part is to learn how you can turn the painful times of your life into something empowering. Now, I look back at a few rough times in my life and know that I could never have gotten as far as I did....or be able to know what true happiness is...without living through them

im 31 i live in indiana but with my job i get to travel all over the country, i like taking long rides on buses/trains because i can just stare away at the view and it calms me, but i really enjoy lifting and reading muscle mags and now IM ADDICTED TO ELIETFITNESS for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will never log off here

thats cool..im from southern ohio but i did undergrad at Miami (OH) University in oxford..twenty mins from Richmond IN

i cant hear a thing doctors treid and tried but too much damage too long , they said i may have partial brain damage, i see a neuroloist every six months but he says my tests are coming back worst and worst and i have the potential to get other serious health defects. but ill leave that up to god to decide,,,inn the meantime im going to spend time here and play with you guys. i used to get punched just for playing or even mentioning it.

Do any types of hearing aids work??? Can you read lips? What kind of job do you have that lets you travel?
 
i treid the hearing aids when i was 15 or so but all i heard was a faint whisper even if someone was yelling, so i tossed the device people always stared at me funny and i dont like that. i get to teach young kids sign language all over, my counciler is the best, i would of probably killed myself if it wasnt for her

man that is an awesome job...wow..you seem like an amazing individual. my heart goes out to your situation but im not giving you pity, just a friendship.

ill be gone from the boards soon but i really hope people follow the lead of the nice people in this thread and make you feel welcome. im sure after the initial awkwardness you'll be battling with the best of them with us :)

I admire the fact that you were willing to share this. You'll find cool people, helpful people, assholes and pricks in this world and on message forums. But I have found that if you think before you type here, generally we are all here for each other and have a common bond here.

Just think of the impact you are having on these kids lives. You enable them to interact with their world at a highly functioning level. You are making such a difference in their lives, & the lives of everyone they will touch.
BTW, don't worry about all the fighting on here. With a few exceptions, they all kiss & makeup via private messages. Real life should be like this. Fight like hell one day & fond aquaintences the next

I also think that Perv should not be out 16K for being a nice guy, so I plan to do something about that. We could use a little more trust around here, even if someone takes advantage of it from time to time.
