RIpped this off the net:

Gilbert's "Syndrome" is not really a disease, but a variation on normal in respect of liver metabolism. The condition is usually picked on routine blood testing and causes no symptoms as such. People with so-called Gilbert's Syndrome, have a liver that is inefficient in breaking down a substance known as bilirubin into bile. This leaves them with an excess of bilirubin in the bloodstream (hyperbilirubinaemia). If the blood levels are high enough, they may appear jaundiced, that's to say the whites of their eyes may look a little yellow or their skin well tanned. The condition is most commonly found in men aged between 20 and 45 and is harmless, with no restriction on diet or activity and no need for any specific treatment.
