A Legend was nearly lost today!!

HaHa! Thought I was going to bite the dust in the gym today. Which is how I predict that I will die anyway, going balls to the wall in the gym. I had done 25 minutes of the precor, jogging, and stairmaster. Then I went downstairs and hit the heavy bag. If you've never done that, it's the ultimate workout. I hit it much faster and furiously than normal and I hadn't been awake long b4 I went to the gym. After 3 rounds I was flat on my back and couldn't catch my breath and my heart was pounding out of my chest. I just overdid it, I've done that even 10 years ago. I got very religious as I always do right b4 I think I'm going to die. But, count your blessings as I'm still with you all.

Cool. Does hitting the heavy bag give you any muscle soreness the following days?

You should write a poem about it.

I see Seashell's name on the board. Honey, you could bring me back from near death with a mere glance at your beautiful face.

:lmao: Charmer...

I'm glad you're okay .. something weird like that happened when I was playing squash once.. thought I was having a heart attack..it's a scary feeling!

No, just make sure you don't take throw a hard punch and miss. You may get sore the first few times, but after that it goes away. Great workout.

Although I haven't hit mine in a while, I remember as a teen, hitting that thing for an hour or so and being sore the following day. I think it helped me cut up a bit too. Might just have to break that bitch out one of these days.

Hey man -

Glad you recovered. Can you explain how you use the bag? I'm getting one put into my apartment and am curious about what your routine looks like and what muscles it affects.

Thanks.

I work the heavy bag and speed bag three times per week...Just try 5, 3 minute rounds on the bag with a minute break in between...Gives a whole new meaning to "Cardio".

Where are you going to hang it? They will let you do that? I hit it for 1 minute, rest about 45 seconds and repeat. I throw mainly jabs, straight right hands, and short hooks, and short uppercuts to the body region. You have to be very careful, you can easily hurt your hand and wrist. Make sure your hands are wrapped or get a real good pair of gloves. I wear Chuck Norris gloves that wrap around and support the wrist. Start off throwing jabs and striaght rights. I throw in combinations and sometimes throw punches the entire minute without stopping, which is what got me so fatigued today. A water bag is the best IMO. Canvass bags are far more likely to result in injuries to the hand and wrist.

Are squash and racquetball the same sport? Because if they are, I'm going to mock you for calling it squash.

Nope. Racquetball is the wussified version with a really bouncy ball and bigger racquet. :D Squash is more challenging, especially with the yellow-dot ball. You've never experienced a sore-butt-muscle until the day after your first brutal game of squash. :bawling:

Well if you ever need a massage, I'll be there in a jiffy.:D

smoke some pot before you hit the bag next time, but skip the precor.

Hey - thanks for the answer.

Actually, I'm going to get a stand for it. Any purchase recommendations?

Hitting the bag is awesome but it'll make you small.

How so? Not as long as you don't overdo it. It's takes a lot of energy and burns a lot of calories, so if you do it for several rounds I can see that happening.

If you only do it for ONLY a few rounds then you probably wont lose much mass. When you hit the bag your muscles are being jarred and ripped to a small degree everytime your fist impacts the bag because your whole body weight is coming to an abrupt stop with your arm taking the shock. And just how your body will adapt to heavy loads by getting bigger, your body responds to moving your arms as fast as you can by getting smaller so that there isnt as much weight to move. As an example Evander Holyfield only has 16 inch arms.
