A complaint filed against me

People piss me off! I'm executive editor of my university's paper, so I have all hiring and firing power. Well, there's this guy that was on staff last year (before I was editor), but they stopped running his stuff because it was crap and had to be typed and basically rewritten. Well, he reapplied this year, but I didn't hire him. He's filed a complaint against the paper and me with the office of Student Affairs, saying he is being discriminated against because of the paper's political views. WTF? His stuff is crap, as far as writing goes. He writes political viewpoint articles. We have several different political aspects covered, so there's no way it's because of our political views. Hell, I don't even know what our political views are. Last year, all he did was bitch to me about how bad the paper was and how that "dyke bitch of a secretary" was doing her best to cause him problems. #1, she's not even gay. #2, he's simply an ass. I refuse to have to rewrite articles that come in to my paper. That's not what they are hired for. I have to call the paper's advisor tonight because we have to have a formal written response to his accusations. It's such a joke IMO. He has no leg to stand on, just a wounded pride.

I don't have any available. What's been printed before has always been heavily edited, so it's not a fair example either. Perhaps I'm just being callous, but I think that when you are hired as a writer, the editor expects to see damn good work from you. The editor should not have to type it or re-write it. I expect more from my writers. I mean, this is just a college paper. What does he expect when he gets out in teh real world?

Definitely sounds like a plan. I just read his complaint letter a little while ago. He's threatening to transfer schools so that he can experience freedom of the press. I can only be so lucky. And to beat it all, the letter was badly written too. Words were put in places that didn't even belong. As if I needed any more proof. The way I see it, any student on this campus is completely allowed to send in a letter to the editor, and it will be printed. There is a big difference in that and being a paid member of my staff.

I'm just hoping he's not bluffing and will really transfer. Let other journalism professors and newspaper editors deal with him.
