A better protein powder?

I need to up my calories and protein intake and for the protein I need a good powder for shakes.

I use met-rx some, love that, tastes great, etc. but it's too expensive to eat too often.

I have Nitrotech protein powder by Muscletech and that s*** makes me wanna puke and leaves me feeling that way for hours. Any suggestions on an affordable protein powder that I'll be able to keep down?

Try www.trueprotein.com You can customize your powder there. I have not bought commercial powders in years. Neither will you.

thanks maxpain....but how is one to know what protein his body responds to best? Do you know if one type is more prone to causing gastrointestinal discomfort?

I think whey. But the easiest thing to do is take a digestive enzyme with it. I use ginger root myself.

Optimum Nutrition...not fancy and not expensive. Natural 100% Whey and Pro-complex are both good. I prefer chocolate.

Hit DPS Nutrition online for the best prices.l

Anything but vanilla protein powder ;)

Whey is whey. Muscle Tech is overpriced shit that spends a lot in advertising. EAS Myopro is less than $21 for 5 pounds at vitago.com...

It sounds more like you want a mass gainer along with it though...Whey itself does not have much for calories. Maybe try Prolab N-Large II. 10 pounds for $40. Good stuff for supplementing a bulk up.

I'd stay away from "mass gainers"...they are generally sugar-loaded fat-gainers.

thanks for the recommendations. I'm checking things out. Guess I probably do want something with carbs too (more than just sugar though). Is Optimum's Aftermax good?

Aftermax is decent for post workout but if you're looking for something better suited for meal replacement without a lot of simple sugars then I suggest Optimum's Whey MRP...45g prot, 20g carbs (4 sugar), 4g fat...290cal. I love the chocolate...very smooth thick shake. I think the 7.6lb bag (45 servings) was $40 at DPS.

I use Pro-Rated by Protein USA.... Ive tried the met-rx and a bunch of the others and this stuff tastes awesome. Also it is pretty cheap i think... $46 for 10lbs.
