61% of companies in America will not hire someone with a visible tatoo

I wonder what a judge would have to say if someone decided to sue for discrimination, if the company told them they weren't being offered the position because of a visible tatoo or tatoo's.

A sensible judge would throw the case out of his court. Of course, there don't seem to be alot of sensible judges these days...

I have 12 tattoos in all - with the only one visible when I wear a short sleeve shirt is on my inner forearm. A small piece of Celtic lettering.

My current boss (in his late 50's) has no problem - my job performance speaking for itself. Although when I meet with customers - he always throws in "a long sleeve shirt, you can skip the tie".

When I started getting ink done - the only rule my father (absolutely opposed to them) gave me was this: Other than the forearm - no more that are visible.

And to paraphrase Weapon X - wear long sleeves - and no one will be the wiser. It's hard enough getting some women to overlook them (and not think you are a murderer), let alone an employer.

If only I could get into the NBA.

I believe that stat, companies look for reasons not to hire you, and that is a big one. They might get 100 applications for one opening.

It took my brother 6 months to find a job after he graduated and he has no tats.

However, I like that whole teeth sharpening thing. Can dentists do that? I'd consider getting my canids (?) done since they're almost there now.

Ther is nothing wrong with tatoos, you just need to think real hard about it before getting one. Some people will jump to conclusions about you if you have one, moreso if a woman has one. I have this friend who is one of the nicest ladies you could know, and people that don't know her make comments about her just because of her tatoos. That just gets under my skin when they do that.

when i was in high school lookin for a job, there were restaurants and department stores who said I couldnt wear my earings (i have diamond studs in each ear)...and i was a punk back then and said fuck it..

i'm now lookin to get a tattoo..my last name in huge korean letters running down my left shoulder...kinda like Marcus Camby's shit....

Now for my future employemnt, I figure since I'll have my OWN practice it wont matter

I must admit, when I used to do interviews I would have an unconcious thought when I would see someone come in tattoed.

The bigger tha tat, the worse that feeling of "What kind of history does this person have"?. Gang members, convicts, etc...

I knew it was BS, but these toughts still crept into my head during and after the interview...
