6 Week Contest and SARMS1 GW 501516 Log - Girly Style

Hi All!

I have just started a 6 week weight loss contest and my GW 501516 has been ordered, so I'm going to run a log of both. I'll likely continue on past the 6 weeks but the contest I'm in runs for that period of time. I think it will be great to get more female experiences out there and I'm someone who doesn't believe in over supplementing and tend to be more conservative. I think I can offer great input to women who do not compete at high levels or do not want to look "like men" but want to have the extra boost.

So...a little about me.

I'm 41, female and currently in the worst shape I've been in in probably 5 years. I've competed in the past and have been really overweight in the past, so have kinda been all over the place. This last year saw me through a really bad separation and I lost motivation for a long time.

But...new year, new goals, new outlook!

My one and only son works at a new gym in our city called Orange Theory and it's one of those gimmicky fitness places but I get a free membership and decided a 6 week weight loss contest with cash prizes was good incentive to get back on the horse. I've hit that stage out out-of-shapeness where I really can't stand myself. I'm sure some of you have been there at some point.....right?!?

Anyway, it's based on percentage of weight loss and the grand prize is $10,000. It's across the country though but hey....why not give it a shot. Go hard or go home! The catch is I have to attend a minimum of 3 of their workouts a week. If you aren't familiar, they're a bit like a bootcamp and given my current fitness level, kick my butt! It's perfect and will whip me right back where I need to be.

I will post up my daily log and extra details and will be starting the GW 501516 as soon as it arrives.

Day 4

Thank you to everyone for the comments and support!

The contest officially started Monday, although I did my weigh in Saturday. I'm officially down 9 lbs from Saturday (can you tell I watered up before?) LOL

So far, so good, although I can barely walk today from soreness! It's a good sore.

A little about this gym....called Orange Theory fitness. You go for a 52 min workout. Half of it is on a treadmill and you do intervals. The other half is on the floor doing various circuits. Some of it is with weights and some body weight. The gimmick is you wear a heart rate monitor around your chest and there's big screens in the place where you can see where you're at. The idea being you have to try to get between 12-20 mins in the "orange zone" which for me is a heart rate at about 85% max or about 158. I like it because it motivates me to NOT be the lowest number on the board and I can push myself too, as I now have some idea of what my base numbers are. It also tracks calories burned. I know it's a bit out of the norm for the usual bodybuilding workout but it's kicking my butt and will be a great way to get some conditioning back. I am definitely working harder there than my usual gym visits, pre contest.

I'm doing 30 mins of fasted cardio every morning too. Usually running intervals on the treadmill. My plan is to do weights on the off days from the classes, so likely just a 2-3 day split. I usually do a 4-5 day split and I'll go back to that after this is over. Currently, putting a shirt on this morning was painful so.....

A quick note about SARMS1 so far.

I got confirmation of my order being shipped within 24 hours of the order being placed. A tracking number was provided too, which is great being that I'm in another country and you never know with Customs. I'm VERY impressed with the customer service.

And...as far as diet....

My target for week 1 was between 1800-2000 calories/ day with a split of 50p/30f/20c. My maintenance is approx 2350 when I'm in decent shape.

I have had a hard time hitting the target so far but got closer yesterday. I've been so sore from the workouts and felt sick to my stomach. I've jacked up my water intake too. I can feel my body starting to respond, though, and I'm hungrier so will be hitting targets soon.

Carbs are from primarily veggies with some oatmeal post workout. I'm someone who will likely eat the same thing every day so I'll post up my meal plan once I finish tweaking it.

I also think I'm in sugar withdrawl! Gawd!

Day 4 (yesterday) is officially in the books!

I did my early morning cardio for 30 and then hit a class last night. Not gonna lie...it was painful. It was probably my worst class yet in terms of heart rate in the right zone but fatigue hit hard. I still had decent results and sort of thought I'd need a wheelchair this morning.

Just to give you some idea of the circuit last night....

20 squat/ curl/ overhead press movement with DB
20 back rows on the TRX
20 tricep dip on the TRX
20 push ups
20 crunches
300 metres rowing

Repeat....for the 26 mins.

Then 26 mins of intervals. Yesterday there were a lot of "hills" in the intervals.

I was proud of myself for getting there!

Calories were at 1464. Macros 40p/33f/27c. I got some protein in after the class but really wanted to puke. I need to get them up higher.

Good for you and the best of luck to you lady!

Day 5

I went last night with the intention of doing 30 mins moderate cardio. I made it to about 23 mins and thought I was going to pass out. lol I got that head rush and broke out in the cold sweat and went white as a sheet so figured, probably time to call it a night. I pushed through for a couple more minutes but it didn't pass.

Calorie wise, I hit 2060 yesterday. 50/25/25 split. My target is 1800-2000 so I'm happy with that. I had an extra protein shake and a banana after the gym, which threw my carb macro off. Not sure I realized bananas had that many carbs!! I could have ended with that but forced myself to eat that last meal. I felt sick to my stomach but really felt like I needed those calories.

Today is a regular gym day too. I debated doing an extra class but I am so sore so gonna take one extra day and do the class tomorrow. I'm just not sure if I should do a weight workout today or keep it at cardio. IDK!

Day 6 - Saturday, Jan 25th

I hit the regular gym and did a low weight, higher rep upper body workout, just to kind of stretch things out.

I used 17.5 lb DB and did...

Flat chest press
Standing rows
Shoulder Press

All 3 sets @ 15 reps.

Did some unweighted incline crunches and a lot of stretching.

I killed it on cardio though!!

30 mins, incline at 3% and running intervals for 20. I have this app on my phone that will count out the intervals so I can just listen to music and focus on the workout, not on watching the clock. It gives you a 5 min walking warm up and then 60 seconds running and 90 seconds walking for 20 mins, 5 min cool down. Now that I have some idea what it feels like to get my heart rate way up there, I really pushed it.

This is the final day of week 1 for the contest. I have my 3rd class this morning at 11:45 (required to do 3 classes a week). I'll post up my stats tomorrow but I weighed myself this morning and it's ridonkulous! I did it twice just to make sure.

Day 7, Sunday

Hit it hard today...the workout was called a 10 to 1, which means for each group of exercises you do 10 reps of both, then 9, then 8 and so on until you hit 1 and then move on to the next exercise.

DB Squat into an OH press
Bench jumps/ push ups
DB curls/ OH Tri extension
Kettlebell swing/ Crunches holding the KB

The rowing for whatever time was left (I had about a min of rowing).

Then switched to interval training on the treadmill for 26 mins. There were a lot of hills on this cycle so blocks of time at 3%/ 6%/ 10% and 13%.

I hit my calorie target of 1800 - 50/30/20 split!

Weigh in Monday morning.

Day 8 - Monday

A quick update....I AM OFFICIALLY DOWN 12 LBS since my initial weigh in a week ago Saturday. Yes, really!! And yes....a lot of water, as I water logged myself before that weigh in but it's all about numbers in this contest.

And the beauty is, I'm not starving myself. Just working hard and kicking ass!

SARMS tracking says it's left the USA and is enroute, as of Saturday. So impressive!! Bring on the GW.

12lbs is very respectable! Hopefully you can keep your metabolism from stalling and keep the lbs coming off

12lbs is very respectable! Hopefully you can keep your metabolism from stalling and keep the lbs coming off

I was actually very suprised but I'm pretty sure most of that is water, just because I loaded up so much for my weigh in. I am going to monitor that though. Hopefully, because it's a short period and I haven't cut calories too much, I'll be ok. If not, I'll do a mid-point cheat or something. ;)

Day 10 - Wednesday, Jan 29th

Last night was the Tornado class!

It was divided into 3 parts. I started with the rowing.

Row for 800 m
20 bicep curls with a band and 20 squats (the band seemed dumb to me but I couldn't get 20....go figure)
Row for 600 m
25 curls/ 25 squats
Row for 400 m
20 curls/ 20 squats
Row for 200 m
25 curls/ 25 squats
Repeat till times up.

Treadmill: 18 mins of intervals. I'm improving already and my speed for the all out sprints is picking up.

Then over to the floor.

It was a series of 10/20/30/20/10 reps. Go through each exercise at 10 then 20 etc.
All with a medicine ball tonight.

Reverse lunge with an OH press
Wood chops
Push ups with feet on the ball
Sit ups
Side to side ball crunches with feet in the air
Burpees (God help me)

I made it halfway through the 30 set in the timeframe.

Calories on point!

My package has cleared Customs!

I took a couple of full rest days this week. Much needed!

Thursday

Made it to the gym despite the cold!

I had to start with 6 mins of elliptical because all the treadmills were full. Not really an elliptical fan.

Hit the treadmill and did my 30 mins of intervals.

5 mins walking
20 mins of 60 run and 90 walk
5 mins cool down

I`ve increased my run speed by 1.5-2.0 mph just since I started. I don't "love" running but it does really help me to get lean.

My glutes are dying! lol

But...I sucked it up and had a good session! Going to bed a happy girl.

Day 13 - Saturday...almost 2 weeks in!

Here's the layout for this morning's class...

Block 1 - Rowing

200m
25 squat jumps with a medicine ball

400 m
25 jumping jacks with ball

600 m
25 squats

800 m
25 jacks

1000 m
25 squats

I finished about 3/4 of the way through the 1000 m row in the time. Not loving the rowing!

Treadmill:

Intervals for 18 mins
Walk 1 min
Jog 90 seconds
All out 60 seconds and so on....

The floor part was brutal! It was 8 stations and you did each station for 1 min, then 30 secs push ups, 30 seconds some kind of ab work (she had planks, sit ups, bicycle crunches etc...So each station was about 2 mins total. They were:

TRX mid rows
bench jumps - side to side
burpees with a bosu ball
box jumps
kettle bell swing
stationary mountain climbers
TRX squat jump
high knee jumps over a short bench (kinda like running tires but stationary)

There was a man who appeared to be in his mid to late 60's next to me and he kicked my butt. I was so inspired! My cardio is improving but wow, my core is weak. By the end, holding a plank for 30 second felt like torture.

My body is fatigued but not nearly as sore as I was a week ago! It really feels good to push myself and see what I can achieve. It's been a long time.

Day 14 - Sunday

I hit up another class today to get my 3 classes in this week. Today was brutal. The mind was willing but the body was hurting! There were two blocks...the first block on the floor was FULL of way too many things involving planks and push ups. lol There were probably 12 different exercises with rowing in between and I lost track of them all.

Treadmill was the usual intervals and I really struggled today. I'm not exhausted as in need to sleep but just fatigued. That being said, I made it through and wasn't the worst in the class.

Yesterday, I hit the higher end of the my range for calories at just under 2000. I'll be about 1700 today.

They said mid point weigh in is this week, which seems early.

I made it two weeks!! Better than I've done in months.

Impressive! I would probably be all passed out and stuck at the burpees on day 10 ;) how's it going with the SARMS?

Ok...so my two week summary...

My weight didn't move last week. It went down about .6 lbs and then up .6 lbs. I felt a moment of panic but....I worked my butt off and stayed true to my diet so I'm not going to panic. Plus, my clothes are fitting differently already.

My GW arrived yesterday. So from order to delivery, in Canada, was 11 days. Amazing!! I took the first dose last night. Slept like a baby and woke up feeling like I'm ready to take on the world! I've felt like death the last few days and feel renewed. I'll have a good 4 weeks with the GW before the contest closes and then will continue on.

Second dose this morning of 10 mgs. I chased it with a teaspoon of sugar free Irish Cream flavoring I use in my oatmeal. Piece of cake!

So....dumb question but a full dropper in the bottle is 20 mgs? Just want to make sure I'm measuring right.

Thanks!!

Tuesday, Feb. 4th - Day 16

I'm a little behind on posting...been a crazy couple of days.

I took two doses of GW today. One in the morning and one about 45 mins before my workout. I may switch to once a day but split it just to see how I felt.

I had a great workout!! I could not believe that in ONE day, I could see some improvements but I did! And with these classes, the numbers are there to show it. I had more endurance and worked that much harder. For example, the goal of these is to get between 12 and 20 minutes in the "orange zone", which is approx. 85% of my max heart rate. Sunday's workout, which was pathetic, I had about 2 mins in the zone. This workout I got up to 13 mins.

Started with 3 mins of rowing.
Then a set of exercises with a 3, 6, 9, 12, 15 reps
DB reverse lunges off a bench, then standing into a bicep curl
DB flies
Reverse flies
pushups
Then every set ended with 20 scissor kick abs.

Then a 6 min rowing block.
30 sec slow
1 min all out - My all out rowing improved here from about 28 strokes per min up to 34. I know I had a stupid grin on my face because I couldn't believe it.

15 Kettlebell swings
15 KB sit ups
15 side planks/ side

Followed by 26 mins on the treadmill. The first half of the treadmill was a lot of hills and that was HARD! Second half I was able to run more. I am not quite to the running up a 10% incline yet but making progress.

Day 17 Wed - today was a rest day. My schedule is a bit crazy this week and it was -28 this morning (yes, celcius) and I didn't make the gym.

GW - split dose am/ pm

No adverse reactions. I don't even mind the taste.

Day 18 - Thursday

Class summary

1st half - 3 blocks (mostly weights tonight)

Rowing 200 m
Flat bench DB chest press - 15
Tricep extensions - 15
Flutter kicks off the end of bench - 20
Repeat x3

Rowing 150m
Kettlebell "goblet" squat - 15
Kettlebell swing - 15
KB sit ups - 15
Repeat x3

Rowing 150m
Seated DB curls/ shoulder press - 12
DB rows from a plank position (these sucked!) - 12
Side to side bench jumps - 20
Repeat x3

26 mins Treadmill. Only one real "hill" tonight and the rest was speed intervals.

So here's the crazy thing with GW. I'm absolutely AMAZED not only how quickly it works but the changes I'm seeing in my workout. I worked as hard I usually do tonight and set my treadmill speeds for what I know my limits to be. Tonight, though, my heart rate took a whole lot longer to go up!! I had to push that much harder to get that orange zone. It was actually the muscle fatigue that limited me, tonight, vs my cardio endurance (if that makes sense). If I didn't have the numbers on the treadmill or the heart rate monitor on, I'd think I had half assed it and yet, because I know what I've been doing, down to the fine detail.....I KNOW I did the same work and could really recognize the difference with the GW! It's really quite amazing!!

Impressive! I would probably be all passed out and stuck at the burpees on day 10 ;) how's it going with the SARMS?

Burpees are brutal! I'm on about day 4 of the GW and loving it. It's pretty amazing stuff!!

Yes, the dropper is 1ml, so 20mg. Glad to hear the scale moved for ya!

Feb. 9th

So today is the big day where in a couple hours I'll be surprising my son and flying out to the west coast to go snowboarding for a couple days. I'm packing gym clothes as the hotel has a gym and a few staples, like my almonds and steel cut oats. I booked a suite so we could have a kitchen (my son eats pretty clean too). I do want to eat out a couple of times since it's such a cool place but going to keep it clean. I've had diet dreams the last two nights so I must be a little worried about it. Who dreams about McDonald's fries?!? lol

I will keep you posted!

Also, survived tornado yesterday and kicked butt! I had a new instructor who is your stereotypical fitness cougar, so I was immediately annoyed. She's the mid 40s, blonde ponytail, lululemon everything, pants short enough to see her ankle tattoo and a tan so dark, she reminded me of a saddlebag. Spent the hour flirting with the men in the group! Her music was all old 80s music set to dance music. I'm a kid of the 80s but was pretty sure I was going to wrap the trx straps around my neck and end it, at one point!! LOL

I tried to focus more on what I was doing and tuned the rest out. It went pretty fast!

Hey guys! I'm a bit behind in posting. I got home late Tuesday night and was back in the gym doing a class Wednesday morning. I'm going again tonight at 8:15. I did my mid point weigh in and was up just over 2 lbs from my trip. I did not overeat at all but did eat a subway and then an airport sandwich that night, when my flight was delayed. I'm sure it's just from the extra carbs, processed meat. I was down 1.4 this morning after a decent day yesterday of eating. I have just over 2 weeks left in the contest so want to finish off strong.

I got my son to do a little recon with all the mid point weigh ins and there's only one other woman who would be in the ballpark. She is probably slightly ahead of me in terms of bf %age so motivation to kick it up a notch. Apparently there's been quite a few people who have been disqualified because they haven't attended the required 3 classes/ week. Good news for me!

The GW is amazing. I've switched to taking the full dose about 45 mins before workouts and I cannot get my heart rate into the "orange" zone. LOL I'm busting my ass and it doesn't move much. I'm truly amazed with it. So on the gym's board it doesn't look like I'm doing much but I know I'm killing it. Now I'm just going by the fatigue in my body and the speeds on the treadmill.

I really want to hit the 20 lbs mark by Feb 28th. That's about 6 more lbs. Time to dig a little deeper.

6 lbs in a couple weeks is very possible, especially with the help of GW. Keep killing it and you got this....

Thursday - Feb 13th

I hit up a class last night.

There were 4 blocks of rowing/ exercises.

Block 1 - repeat 3-4 times
TRX squats into a back row (12)
Push ups into a t (raising one arm up) 12
something else I can't remember lol

Block 2 - 3 times
db shoulder press - 12
chest flies - 12
db one arm row off a bench in the plank position - 12
back extensions - lying face down doing a reverse crunch - 12

Rowing - 600 m

Block 4 - 3 times
Bosu ball sits up - 12
Bosu ball side crunches - 12/ side
Plank position with feet on bosu ball/ stepping down and then back up

26 mins treadmill. There were a lot of hills and then the last 4 mins was 30 secs all out/ 30 secs walking.

My core is sooo weak! I almost get angry with planks. I struggle to hold them for any respectable length of time. Slowly but surely that will improve.

Diet on point!

I hit up the Tornado class on Saturday and it was probably my best workout yet. It was really high intensity and I had almost 21 mins in the orange zone, which now means my heart rate has to be at about 162, so I was working!

The treadmill part was mostly speed intervals (no hills), rowing was the usual and then the floor had 9 stations with 2 exercises per station. You'd do one exercise, then 5 burpees, the next exercise, then 5 push ups and then move on to the next. Each exercise was about 50 seconds.

Sunday, I did a regular class and it was probably the worst one I've had. I think it was too much and I probably should have taken yesterday as the day off and gone today. I felt like I was working hard, was sweaty but didn't get my heart rate up like Saturday. I'm having to work harder to get it up, which is great, but the body sometimes doesn't have the energy. That's ok...I still made it through and actually got 4 classes in last week instead of 3. And that's with being gone 3 days last week.

Today is Monday and it's a holiday here where I live. I woke up feeling like death. Everything is just off for me today. It's likely hormonal based and I'll spare you all the details but getting old sucks sometimes so I gave myself permission to go back to bed and only do what I feel like doing, which so far has been a whole lot of jack squat. It's one of those days where I can't even push myself because I think I'll have a melt down. I don't get like this very often and this is probably the first time in months I've had one of these days. So....I have rested WELL! lol

All that being said, the scale is still moving. I'm at 17.8 lbs down.

Last night was the worst temptation moment for me that I've had so far in terms of cheating. God, I wanted to eat sugar sooo bad. I settled for some almond butter on celery sticks instead and made it through the night.

:wavey: Hey Cali, OMG getting old sucks the big one :lmao:

You have my complete admiration and awe for the amount of work you're doing and the scale movement, I mean that. Ever since I've gotten noticeably perimenopausal (I think I've been here for quite some time, actually) things have gone totally south for me. It's taken me most of a year to get myself more stable physically and emotionally. Now a days I actually feel pretty good most of the time, better than I have in years, if I'm being completely honest. But the weight thing, ugh. First the scale stalled, then it started creeping up ... now it's moving in the right direction again, but every ounce is a battle, made harder than it should be as serious weight training has been kind of out of the question. I'm thinking I can safely add back even just deadlifts, I just don't want to risk further R/C injuries.

Anyway, just wanted to compliment your good work, I think you're doing beautifully :qt:

Thank you so much! :)

It's been a few years since I've been successfully able to stick to anything so having almost 5 weeks under my belt is pretty empowering. I hit early perimenopause and every once in awhile go through a bout of OMG...please kill me, which is pretty much what happened Sunday. I wondered what was wrong with me in the gym and good ol' mother nature decided to arrive 2 weeks early, which has never really been an issue for me before. So who knows! The good news is, it'll get it out of the way for my final weigh in but I was left wondering wtf?!?

I can totally relate to the weight loss being a battle. I've had many starts in the last year and always drop big the first week and then that's it. And then I give up. This time, I decided to try something different and have kept my fat macro higher, which I haven't done in the past (outside of a brief stint with keto, which I HATED). I think the higher intensity workouts are helping too. I'll likely do a bit more weight lifting once this contest is over but right now the body weight exercises are enough. I've really shifted mindset into getting healthy and staying injury free vs sculpting that perfect body. I've considered competing again but have a long way to go. I'd be happy to wear a bathing suit and not feel like someone should be throwing me a fish! ;)

Thanks for the comments and the encouragement! Helps me stay motivated!! :)

A quick update this morning.

I was back at a Tornado class last night. They are more intense but I like the shorter blocks better. Rowing/ Treadmill/ Floor. Seems like it moves quicker.

So guys...I'm working on my mindset but am really struggling this week. I don't feel good! I'm not sleeping right either, which just makes everything a million times worse. I worked as best I could last night (and still broke a sweat and all that good stuff) but my body was really fatigued and aching. My mood has tanked too. I could barely keep my eyes open and then still laid in bed till about 1:30 this morning. I think the GW is the only thing that kept me moving last night and that's after 2 days of rest.

I'm wondering if my lower carbs has something to do with it. The first 4 weeks the only complex carb I was eating was 1/4 cup of steel cut oatmeal and I cut that down to 1/8 cup for this last week. My other carb sources are from things like broccoli, spinach, mixed greens and those types of veggies. I am seriously considering doing a mini carb up. If I did it, I'd do it tomorrow as I have classes Sat/ Sun and then 3 next week. I haven't looked at my macros yet but would probably bump the oatmeal to 1/4 cup and then add some sweet potato to my other two meals. Drop my fat macro down a bit for that day.

I haven't completely decided but that's what I'm thinking today.

I only the low carb because this was a short term contest (just so everyone understands the rationale behind it). But...more specifically....yesterday my calories were 1739 with 45%p/ 34%f/ 21% c or

193.5 g protein
96 g carbs
68 g fat

The scale is still moving so I haven't stalled out, I just feel crappy.

I am going to do the carb day tomorrow and then will see this through to the end. I'm done the 6 week contest in one week tomorrow.

After that, I'll re-adjust things to be a little more reasonable.

It's such a fine line between wanting to win this thing but not wanting to do damage to myself or feel so crappy, I can't get the best results possible.

Sweet potatoes it is. :)

Friday update

Well, I have one week to go in the 6 week contest! As rough a week as this has been, I have tried really hard to shift my mental focus and am ready to make it a strong last week! Today is my carb up day and just knowing that gave me a boost too. I upped my oatmeal this morning and added some yams to both my other meals. It's not a huge increase but I'm feeling like it'll help get me through.

I did some cardio last night and have two classes booked this weekend. I have to do all three classes for next week by Friday, so not a lot of rest there. I asked my son to double check that all weigh ins will be done next Friday. For the mid point, I saw them weighing people in 3-4 days after the required dates and I wanna make sure there's no extensions cause if there is....I'll be using one! lol

I'm feeling much better today. Half the battle is in the mind isn't it?!

I have 1.8 lbs to go to hit the 20 mark. Anything beyond that is a huge bonus!

Congrats lady. 20lbs in 6 weeks is pretty amazing! What's your first meal gonna be after? Lol

Operation carb up was a success! Extra oatmeal and 300 grams of yams and I slept like a baby last night. I was up .8 lbs this morning but felt like a different person in the gym.

Tornado class this morning!

Started with the floor block. 9 stations/ 2 exercises each with 10 pushups in between. About 1 min per exercise.

TRX squat into high row
TRX tuck ins (feet in handles in a push up position pulling legs into your chest.

Bench jumps
Bench touches with feet

Kettlebell squat into row
KB one arm alternating swing

side planks/ both sides

Side bench jumps
Tricep dips

Side to side ab crunches with medicine ball
Medicine ball squat into jump

Side to side on a bosu ball
Bosu ball burpees

Rowing:

200 m
10 bicep curls with a band/ 10 squats
300 m
15 curls/ 15 squats
400 m
20/20
500
25/ 25
600 m....

Then finally treadmill:

First half was incline intervals and second half was more speed intervals. I'm able to run most of it now and only walk after the all out sprints. That's huge improvement for me from 5 weeks ago!!

I came pretty close to the puke zone today and the only reason I didn't was because I was on the freeway and didn't want to mess up my car or pull over! lol

Thank you!!

I'm thinking pizza...like real pizza, not the dominos kind. We'll see! :)

Sunday....6 days to go!

I woke up feeling like a new person today. I had a very long sleep, which was much needed. I also did some mental work with myself last night. I can catch a negative spiral and stay stuck there so I took a bit of time out and just really tried to refocus my thoughts. Sometimes, I'm my own worst enemy.

I hit up a class this morning. I felt really strong on the treadmill and even ran most of the hills. I'm still not at the point of running the 10-12% hills but I'm making progress. The GW is amazing and I'm still having to push it that much harder to get myself in the "orange zone". I'm up to about 165 HR, which would be 84% which gets me there. So on their board, I look like I'm sucking because I have less time in the orange zone but I know I'm actually rocking it! lol

The rest of it was rowing and a lot of kettlebell and TRX work. My strength is improving and my ability to do the exercises is getting better. My son gave me a rowing tutorial yesterday and the instructor today told me my form was perfect. I can go farther too and keep up with the fat ladies now. lol

Yesterday, I had focused in on this woman in the tornado class who seemed to have her head up the tanned trainer's butt and for whatever reason, she annoyed the hell out of me. (I know, I'm way too old to be so catty but this is what goes on in my head at the gym). As it turns out, she's the competition. She's the one who had lost a similar %age of weight to me. She's in better shape, for sure, but I think as the evening went on, that sort of fired me up. It's funny how it's the one woman I was annoyed with. She's smaller then me too so it should be interesting to see where we finish.

On that note, I'm still right around 18 lbs down. The carb load put me up a bit and it's come down now. I'm going to hold the course and finish strong!

Monday Update

I went to another class last night.

Treadmill was mostly incline intervals.

The rowing/ floor combo was not too bad either.

Block 1
One arm TRX squat into low row
5 burpees
high knee jog to the rower for 200 m
repeat x3

Block 2
Step ups with DB into bicep curls - 20
Reverse lunge with DB into shoulder press - 20
Bench push ups - 15
Repeat x3

Block 3

Medicine ball squat into OH press
MB woodchops - 20
MB sit ups - 15
repeat x3

I had pretty good energy tonight but am feeling it with 3 days in a row. I'm sore! Tomorrow will just be cardio I think.

Diet on point.

So...the scale has totally frozen the last few days. Up a bit/ down a bit but essentially stuck at 18 lbs down.

I decided this morning to NOT stress about it. I'm not going to make any drastic changes and just hold the course. The interesting thing is I can really see a change in my body. I look leaner.

Hopefully, I'll have a breakthrough by Friday morning and see a bit more movement.

So, my son came home last night and told me that one of the really, really big women from the gym said she's down about 17% of her weight. I guess if you're over 300 lbs and make the drastic changes that would be possible. I was trying to do the math in my head. It was pretty discouraging tbh. The other issue I'm facing is the hospital unit I work on was put on isolation for a flu outbreak and I woke up this morning feeling crappy. Got the body aches big time. I'm still sore from the last couple classes too. Gawd!

However, I have spent the last 2.5 years being a quitter and I'm two days and two workouts from the end and I'm NOT going to quit. Of course, you always hope you'll win the big prize but this whole thing was also about sticking to something and seeing it through to the end. Cutting out all the excuses I've been using for the last couple of years.

I'm booked for a Tornado class tonight and will have to do one tomorrow too and then I'M DONE!!

Well guys...I survived the Tornado class last night. I went home a bit early from work and had one of those naps where you aren't sure what day it is when you wake up. It got me through! Way too many burpees but I did it. I got voluntold to go on a spin bike instead of a treadmill for that part of the workout. I don't have much experience on there. My legs are pretty done today! Hurts the butt too.

The little short woman I was telling you guys about was there. I overheard her say she weighed in at 134 and was down to 121. She looked worse than I felt last night and sat a lot on the rowing part, barely moving. She was saying to someone she didn't know why she was doing this to her body and was just about done. For some reason, that gave me more energy. Ya, I'm a beeyotch.

My son said the big woman is down almost 50 lbs. Both her and Miss shorty are working with the tanned trainer. She's got them both doing a "dehydration mode". Wut?!? I know it's a long standing practice before shows but there is such mixed research on it. And really...if you aren't using AAS...do you need to cut water 2 days before a weigh in. IDK.

Enough of my editorials!

My lovely scale dropped .2 lbs. The thing is, I can see changes. It's almost like I'm recomping now and I'm still getting leaner. The beauty of GW!

Dehydration has always been the final step to make weight. Look at wrestlers. I get dehydrated if I don't drink water for an hour. My body would hate me if I tried to pull that. Good luck. Gonna post before and afters?

The final workout is in the books!! I killed it tonight..even jogged the 8% incline!! Pretty sure if I never see another Kettlebell, it'll be too soon! lol

Final weigh in tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Ok...so...the final weigh in results!

I went from Jan 19th to Feb 28th and my official lbs down was 18.2. I couldn't quite get to 20 and have been stuck at 18 give or take for over a week.

Having said that, I'm pretty happy with that. And happy I actually completed it. I'm back in the groove and am going to keep the momentum going.

Apparently, they will email me my before and after pics. I tried to get them today but couldn't so I will post them when I get them. The big lady lost 63 lbs total. She was close to 350 at the start and apparently did some hardcore vegan diet, along with major dehydration. They said this morning that the competition was for both Canada and the USA but that this woman may have won it all. Now the key will be...can she keep it off?!? I'll be watching. lol

My GW Review...

I started GW on Feb 4th so really have only had a good 3.5 weeks with it but I was so impressed and amazed with what it does. I actually couldn't believe how quickly I noticed my endurance improving and the workouts I was doing were excellent to actually track that because HR was monitored so closely. Even though my weight has been stuck for a bit, I feel that my body is still changing and I'm going to continue on with using the GW. An excellent product, excellent shipping and customer service and something I'd highly recommend.

So...where to from here?

This is really only the beginning of the journey for me. I have enough GW to run a full 12 weeks and I think I just might do that. I'm going to take a few days off as my body is pretty tired and sore and then start another 6 week block. The 6 weeks seems doable to me and the smaller time frames keep me focused. Everyone is asking me today am I gonna go drink and eat like a madman and they are all quite surprised when I say no. I'm going to go eat pizza this evening to celebrate but then I'm going to stay on that eating healthy bandwagon. I don't want to undo what I've achieved and we all know how coming off a low carb diet can rebound and bite you in the ass if you're not careful.

My plan is to re-do things a bit and include more food and more carbs. I'm going to still take advantage of these classes but maybe cut them back to twice a week and then I'll need to sort out how I can include a weight lifting split. They are great for cardio and overall conditioning but I want to get some real weights back in too. Eventually, once I lose a little more I want to try the Osta.

Thank you everyone for all the support!
