55 Chevy!! BOSS

to me it looks as if it is an old super gas or super stocker race car. See how the wheelwells are cut? If you can fins a copy of Two Lane Blacktop or American Grafitti... it will blow your mind at how much that 55 looks like yours.
The car that James Taylor drove in Two Lane is the same one Harrison Ford drove in American Grafitti... except they had to tone the motor down for Harrison. The actual car used in Two Lane Blacktop would run mid 10's in the 1/4!!!!!!!

dballer we have been told that this is either the car that has been painted or its a replica of the car in that movie......also it does run in the 10's in the quarter so we have been told but i will find out soon!!!!......lol......im going to tampa fla. to meet the guy who has had it for a while and knows the history about it. the thing is mind-blowing and i will let you know what i find out. thanks for posting it for me..........;)

goddamn what a beautiful ride dballer

Thanks.. I wish it were mine.. but it is Boss's car.. I am sure he will come and post to claim his prize.

lucky bastard!!!

Take it slow trying to run 10's in that car. You don't wanna pancake it. Slicks are tricky with a heavy car like that.

good call tbod.. my advice would be to run 10.5X29 inch M/T tires. I know you will have room for them.

The car will leave hard as hell.. so run it in a test and tune night first.
Let me know what happens... I am really curious..

where do you live again?

im oredering some mickey thompsons for it, and i agree to go easy in the tune nights. im in new england where its cold.......lol

Damn Boss.......that's a helluva car! I wouldn't want to own one but I damn sure like looking at them! I like to find a '68 or '67 Firebird and restore it to it's factory state. I had both in high school and I sure do miss them! Nice car though!

well this one will get you there quick!! i'll give you a quick run through the car......396ci, twin holley 650, 4000 rpm stall converter, 4.88 rear end, 4 point harness in the seats, all interior has been stripped due to drag racing, only the bear guages and toggle switches are there and yes it does have a radio. on the holleys there are 2 half inch fuel lines to each 4 barrel which equals about 3 to 4 miles per gallon. a night out could be $50.00 in gas alone.......so going to the store you need to fill up.........lol

That car would look soo good with a set of Cragar Drag Lites....

man what a ride.

with the new tires i will change the rims.......those tire lite way too quick, i will go with the d.o.t. approved mickeys for the street and slicks for the track and will take some more pics and send them to you.........

Nice ride Boss! I LOVE THE CLASSIC MUSCLE CARS!

Did you restore her or buy it already done? What was the org. color?

My hubby has a '57 and his dad had a red '55 ! WE BE DRAG RACER'S ON THIS END....

vixen we bought it like that and are doing some minor changes to it now. if it does stay us we will be doing alot to it this coming winter........some guy offered to but it today but unless he meets the prices its going to stay right here! and dballer those are nice cars but i still love the vettes personally.

check out these wheels...

I used to work with a guy restoring those beautys when I was 15 years old. His business is just down the road where I used to live and instilled the love. Hardest damn job I ever had but I often got to ride on them. I wouldn't mind getting a Bel-Air one of these days.

although i am a ford man, i do like the '55-'57 chevvies, except for the "slip and slide" powerglide transmissions.

considering the dowdy, butt ugly '54 models, it was quite a change in one year's time!!

given a choice b/t a '55 bel air and a '55 crown victoria..........well...i AM a ford man....................................;)

Stock glides are pretty lame for the street. But I got one in my Vega.. and most of the Super Pro bracket cars that are under 3000lbs use Glides.

The one I have will handle over 700hp coming out of the hole at over 4000rpm.

My grandmother had a green and white one. :) For real...

having posted above, i must confess that my father "defected" (as my uncle said) and bought, brand new, a turquoise and white '56 with the power pack and overdrive.

my mother liked the car so much she begged and pleaded my father to be allowed to get a driver's license. how times have changed!!!
