~40 US Soldiers Dead This Week

I think it is, and its a war..... In Korea...Vietnam...we didnt publish each days death tolls and do personal stories on each person and show their crying familys. Its sad as hell but its not right, the media wants this to end so that they will have more news to report on once we leave and the Turmoil continues. The media doesnt care about the good of the country, 9/11 was a heaven sent for them , they love it and probably only hope more things liek that will happen so they can make more sappy overly dramamtic stories to get ratings.

But remember,it's for a noble cause, what with all that terrorism,WMD's and the brutal dictator who's still chillin'and smoking a stogie while hanging out.

Why do people keep saying that there is a war?

I think it has something to do with guns, tanks, and guys from the armed services shooting at other guys who are not. Just my geuss.

War is declared by Congress and has a clearly defined enemy.

What is going on in Iraq is the end of an invasion and the beginnings of a hostile occupation.

If someone came into my frat house and took it over without my consent, I would kill them too (even if some of my fraternity brothers did not mind the invaders. That does not mean that I am at war with them. It means that I do not want them on my property.

When AlQueda Operatives flew into those buildings they started a US led war on terrorism. To prevent those types of attacks from continuing on our soil. Had we left Afghanistan and the Taliban and Saddam in power, eventually we would be struck with WMD/ Nuclear Bombs.

I support our soldiers fighting to keep our country free. We did not send the local Boy Scouts to Iraq. We sent men and women who signed up to defend our country. Our soldiers are brave and courageous and they also sign up on their own free will.

May we never forget...9/11 and all those innocent Americans who died tragically at the hands of Al Queda.
Dont forget the brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children, grandchildren, & grandparents who were left behind to suffer.

I do not intend to belittle other's opinions, but from where I sit I can see why we are in Iraq.

God Bless America

It is called spitting venom at melodramatic BS.

BTW- take a grammar class (then again all you need to do is write your name correctky on the ASVAB and they will make you an officer).

And for your information I was offered a wrestling/academic appointment to West Point, so having a pretty picture of a bomber in your avatar does not make you any more miltary.

Good on you for the appointment. I recieved one to USAFA for hockey. I took mine and have been on active duty since 1989.

I know you are a smart guy who likes to stir shit up. That's cool. The strength of your debating position becomes weaker when you "spit venom".

Not at all. The US domestic scene is in shambles and you are sending 90 BILLION in hard earned tax dollars into a theatre that has nothign to do with terrorism while Afghanistan (where real terrorists live and organize is totally out of control of NATO hands expect for 4 blocks in Kabul).

I wouldn't say that I am smart. I would say that I post enough that some of my stuff makes sense.

As for spitting venom, that is what I do when talking to people who should be in the front lines of an infantry division.

Not sure what represents your immaturity and poor intellect most asccurately...your venom spit or your liberal melodramatic BS... It is a reflection of your inability to carry mature conversation past your obvious short comings intellectually. I think your immaturity and self righteous attitude make the case against everything you say without anyone else trying to do so.

You act like the 40 American Soldiers that got killed were Girl Scouts who didn't know what they were getting into while out selling cookies. There is no point in trying to argue with you. We obviously have different perspectives. You are obviously a Liberal who forgot what happened to all of those men, women & their families on 9/11.

I support our troops and thank them for the Freedom I enjoy and you take for granted. If you dont like US Policy and Democratic Government...you can always leave.

Agreed that domestic economy is in the shitter and the early glimmer of a turn around is just a glimmer, not a true trend.

Do you believe the political under pinnings of Iraqi Freedom would have been better if it was only based upon the removal of a brutal dictator, vs. the brutal dictator with WMD?

Who do you feel are the major exporters or supporters of Terrorism today?

Saddam was a vile person. There is no doubt, but that was not the problem of the US. If the US went around taking out every dictator in the world as bad as Saddam, then half of the US' allies would go down, too.

In any case, Iraq was anti-Islamic and therefore not even remotely supporting terroists (although they did ideologically, whih is totally different).

The only country that Irak threatened was Israel because Saddam gave money to the families of freedom fighters/suicide bombers.

Do not forget that the US gave Saddam a green light to invade Kuwait when the US diplomat to Iraq said "we are not invloved in Arab affairs" after Saddam told her that Kuwait was illegally slant drilling Iraki oil in 1990.

The major exporters of terrorism again the US are Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan (via the newly energized Taliban and Al Qaeda).

While Former President Clinton was in office the "up swing" in the Economy was about 3-4 years overdue for a "down swing". The Economy will always adjust itself, and attacks on our soil do not help things!

You tend to "stir up shit" about the economy and the Troops and Bush, but you forget what a devastating effect the 9/11 situation had on our economy as it was already adjusting before the attacks. We are fighting to defend our country to prevent further attacks against our economy and our country.

Iran supports Hezbolla (which only has beef with Israel and their occupation of Syrian terriroty). Iran does not like the US, but they are not dumb enough to piss them off because they do not want to deal with the world's most powerful and influencial nation (in all of history).

As for Syria, they may be sympathetic to Irak's Ba'the Party and may turn a blind eye to fighters crossing the border, but they also have beef with Israel and not the US.

Those are the official estimates and do not include the thousands injured.

I am guessing that closer to 1000 have died so far.

Giving money to families of suicide bombers isn't supporting terrorists?

It basically says: "Kill some Israelis and we'll set your family up after your death." Sounds like some good support to me.

Just getting my obligatory shot on 2thick in for today. I agree with most of your views on the middle east otherwise.

But we have as much proof that we're going to have long-term hostile occupation in Iraq as evidence of Saddam supporting anti-US terrorism. Just predictions of Bush & Co's intentions. The US just fucked it all up from the get go, and it doesn't really matter what we're doing there now; nothign good is going to come of it.

If you had a choice between lying down and being shot or taking a wild stab at your enemy before certain death, what would you do?

Had we left Saddam in power . . . blah blah blah - where are the WMDs???? Where is the actual evidence behind your statement? Anyone can write some notes and say we're gonna get those fucking Americans . . . but until there's actually some physical evidence, then there isn't shit to go on. There's just a lie that was told to millions of Americans . . .

Fighting to keep our country free is a good thing . . . but fighting in another country where they've found jack shit is another. NOW they have problems. Actually, excuse the "they", I mean WE have problems. Thanks to Bush and Dickhead, they is now WE.

I love the soldiers. I think that they are a wonderful and courageous group of people. But that isn't the damn issue now is it? We're fighting in a country because some hard headed Texas shit kicking dummy decided to ignore the rest of the world . . . and now begs for their help. Aren't we just the all powerful looking now . . .

Bro they found alsammuud (sp) missles which travel further than allowed by UN sanctions. They also found ricin poison which kills humans and has no cure. A single drop of ricin shuts down the respiratory system in 48 hours...no cure.

Also they took him out of power because of the way he treated "his people"... cutting out their tongues, cutting off their arms, hands, and feet. If given time he would have gotten nuclear capability and probably sold it to the wrong people.

I am not trying to change your mind. If you don't like the Iraq thing that is fine, but I like it better than New Jersey getting erased from the face of the earth because we waited until he had produced a WMD capability.

I appreciate you have a different opinion, but I am glad we went there and did what we are doing...removing the threat of terrorism now and in the future. It will not stop all terrorist acts, but it will slow them down and make them think what will happen if they fuck with the Bull.

Whoa partner...........an appointment to the Academy's flight program is one of the hardest thing to get there is next to getting to be an astronaut.

The physical alone knocks out almost everyone.

Academy graduates score significantly higher than other college graduates on standardized tests.

Well, I really wish that I could believe that we went over there for humanity sake, but I know in my heart that we didn't.

And I know that a few missiles that travel a dick size or two over the limit doesn't justify a war of this size either . . .

But, I will leave it alone. You have your opinion, I have my opinions . . . but at least we both love and support the soldiers.

I don't know of one ef member who does not support the soldiers. Even if opposed to our Middle East policies, it is not logical to blame the soldiers.

Like I said earlier however, you young bucks best get used to the idea of eating C-rations.

As I recall, WizKid was quite enthusiastic about the invasion of Iraq. It will be interesting to see his level of enthusiasm if drafted to fight over yonder.

All though pOink irritated the living hell out of me, I will give him credit for apparently volunteering to train to fight over there....from what I gather.

This shit in the Middle East is getting way out of hand though.

I felt comfortable critizing many of our policies but losing our soldiers at significant rates has got to end. If it gets a whole lot worse, I may have to drop everything and check things out.

Wouldn't be for my country. I have very powerful objections over a few liberties that "my country" took with me.

I just don't want to see this thing blow up into a global catastrophe taking down hundreds of thousands or millions. It has the needed requirements for doing that and is gathering momentum.

Well I guess we had better add about more 80 countries to the invasion list.....

also...are you talking about the chem weapons we supplied Iraq in the 80's?????

Terrorism is attacking and killing civilians because of a beef with their government. It makes no difference if a missile or car bomb is used.

I do not condone killing innocent people but you do what you have to do to get the message across.

You would do the same thing is some Arabs came over and took over your state and since you could not attack their military targets (b/c you have rocks and they have jets). If you would not then you are either a coward of a BSer.

Now external factors like 9/11 , terrorist acts, and Enron corporate scandals also affect the economy. Bush being in office is not why the economy struggled in the past three years.
The war in Iraq is not why the economy struggled .

Face it you haven't the slightest clue what the the thread is about, and your meaningless "Alter Attack" on my credibility is well, shall we say: LAME.

that is all...

Amusing. I didn't realize that in order to counter my argument, you had to use the language and reasoning of 18 years old boy. I was merely pointing out that your view on the Economy was classified same as a classicial economist who believed that Economy is always self-adjusting, with no help at all. That is all.

I'm just another Friedman.

Now you are adding to my words (with no help at all) ... I never said that, but sometimes when you have been own3d it is necessary to add words or sentences to someone else's thoughts to make your position seem intelligent. It didn't work you are still stupid.

Greenspan controls the economy! bwahahahaha
okay, and Algore and Hillary Clinton invented the internet too. bwahahahahaha

HMMMmmm... Does anyone remember why "holey war" was declared against the US..

I honestly think we need more troops, we should also be more aggresive. With another 500,000 soldiers, I bet none of these attacks we are hearing about would happen.. fuck it, kill them all.. take over, camels don't need oil... our cars do :)
I hope you die. Nothing more to say.

It certainly wasnt the best decision in our nation's history.

He left for Canada a long time ago bro.

Last time I went to Canada, my house burnt down. I think the Canadians did it.

BTW, I'm looking at Iraq now. It sucks.

There are definately terrorists here. They blew up about 20 Italians yesterday. I was in a meeting with one of their commanders. Not a pleasant place to be.

Some people might not label them purely as terrorists. Some people might say they are fighting illegal imperialist invasion, and occupation. Some might say that some Iraq's fear the prospect of Saudi style injustice, manipulation, and a further loss of soveriegnty.

I am going to protest against Bush's arrival in the UK next week.. apparently that makes me a potential terorist and I might be stopped and searched under alarmingly broad anti-terrorist laws. So maybe I am a terrorist; there's a lot of us about. I think it is cool that Saddam is gone... but America's attitide towards this whole war has been fucking disgraceful.

You can protest whatever you want, that doesn't make you anything but a citizen exercising you're rights to free speech. Believe me, there are a lot of varying views of the actions taken. Rightly so. If there weren't opposition, then it wouldn't be a democracy/republic. We're just here doing the mission that we were assigned, and trying to stay alive while accomplishing that mission.

Good luck over there. Hope you don't get killed. Its one thing to say "I hope you die." Its another thing when the person has an actual chance of dying soon.
