I'm pissed that they discontinued the Acura RSX-S in favor of the Civic coupe.

It's a nice car, but damn it's ugly.

RSX will be back next year with an upgraded engine. Only Honda I'd ever get is the S2000.

The interior, IMO... does NOT look like "your traditional thoughts of a Honda."

Test drove one just for jollies as I drive a truck

Fairly Fun and sporty suspension. Not close to a VW or other German car
Fairly quick - if you like driving at like 5-6k rpm all the time.
Electric Power Steering was strange, always correcting itself as to straight track
What the hell is up with that cockeyed dash and the Star wars digital speedo ?

Honda Civic outperformed the VW in almost every single test. In fact the Si destroys the top-of-the line Golf every time.

I'm not sure if that's the same chassis or not.... I don't remember.

Yea,
That's the main appeal IMO to the Civic over the GTI. Bang for the Buck..
And its probably gonna be a bit more reliable than the VW for the long haul.

But my original point was, for me, nothing rides suspension/steering wise
like a German engineered car. Even the Mexican assembled VW's..

while other brands may be nice to drive, it's hard to argue the longevity of a honda. I am on my second one and this one has 150K on it and still runs as smooth as the first day I bought it. The previous accord I had finally crapped out at 423K, but it still looked and ran quite nice. I just didn't want to rebuild an engine is all. Hondas run FOREVER, ride really nice, and are the best value on the market these days in my humble opinion. They may not be as flashy, but much like me, the honda is the best option in the long run. If you want flash, get something else.

Will look for that but when they discontinued the RSX they said in the newspaper that Acura would be back in 2007 (as 2008 model) featuring non-VTEC engine and probably the turbo MDX engine for the RSX-S (that would be cool.... if it ever get built). Apparently they'd be using the Civic/CSX platform. Might just be for japanese and canadian market (just like the CSX-S which isnt sold in the US).

The Civics are cute. I just got the new Accord, looked at the civics, but a little too small for my taste .
