What can i do to help 2 of these in my neck from a car accident. They Hurt like hell and i am waiting for my doctors appointment tomorrow.

i am not totally sure. I posted this for my dad who has the problem not me. But from what we see its in the upper areaa of the neck.

I would skip right past your normal doctor and check into prolotherapy if you want the problem actaully fixed. You can do some reading and check for a doc in your area at prolonews.com

Man that sucks, I'm really sorry to hear that bro. I had a herniated disc in my lumbar region which I had taken out but I know how extremely painful that can be. I've also had prolo for a different reason and I know how effective that can be. A herniated disc is when a portion of the disc actually breaks off and lodges against your spinal chord or nerve. Many times the only answer is to get it removed. I think the best advice I can give you is to get the best surgeon that you can find. I wish you all the best with it bro, seriously.

Are you sure there herniated? The T2/T3 area of the upper neck is not uncommon to have rotation problems in these types of accidents, follow Zyg's advise or see a local chiro, they can at least x-ray to determine the problem.

just happened to me 5 months ago. I had to get a shot of demerol(sp) form the emergency room. Ice helped out. Also maybe try some traction to relieve some pressure on the neck. I also ended up getting an epidural injection in the discs to shrink the swelling.

The main problem with injuries like this is even if you have the herniation removed you still have laxity in the spine which can continue to cause problem long after surgery. My recomendation is that if you fix the underlying problem (which is joint laxity) the body will likely be able to repair the disk itself making surgery not needed AND leaving your neck fully healed and the tendons/ligaments as strong if not stronger than before the injury.

yes they are herniated the doctor called and said they were after an mri. He is going to a physical therapist but he is in pain now 1 month after the accident and still is getting headaches. i will show him what you guys recomended. thanks alot bros
