4 Board Press: 1RMx275 - big time PR! Last week I pressed 265 of 3 Boards with reverse light bands.
225x1, 245x1, 275x1

Seated OHP: 3RMx155 - another big time PR!
155x3
I almost lost my balance and dumped the weight on the third rep. That's why I brought my feet back, to balance myself.

JM Presses: 135x2x3 - big PR! Old PR was 95x2x3. Exodus' advice really helped on these.
Zot presses: 20'sx3x10 - 5lb PR
DB Powercleans: 35'sx4x8
Ab Wheel: 3x10

Even though I felt like crap, I had an awesome night. I just got back from the doctor, and I have a sinus infection. Hopefully, I'll get to feeling better before this weekend.

Yesterday, on the digital scale at work, I weighed 292. Last night in the gym I weighed 290. This morning at the doctor's office I weighed 290.

Only ten more pounds until I make the big 300. I was thinking that I would be 300+ by Christmas. Now I'm thinking that I will be 300+ by Halloween. :lmao:

wow that totally sucks, i just realized that the next 300lber were getting here on the boards is my own brother and not me.........

damn it.

LOL. You'll get there bro. You can't forget that I'm six inches taller than you.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm trying to bench with more of a Metal Militia style. Any help, comments, or critiques will definitely be appreciated.

You are progressing ridiculously fast.

your not even joking, in a year, he is going to be where i was when i first came to B folds house in april. the only problem is at that point i had been training for 6 years and it will be less than a year and a half for him.

lol.

But are you sure it is going to take that long?

Of course it doesn't hurt approaching 300 lbs after just starting.

true that, and cheesecake has always been cock strong, just a natural bull on the football field, and on the wrestling mat. thats why i had to start working out to defend myself....lol

yeah cheesecake is 24 years old, and he has been over 250 lbs since he started high school. and he's 6'5, so has been over 250 for about a decade.

well, will see what i get today, im hoping for 365+

1) You need a lot more arch, your set up is very very weak .
2 )Your stability is terrible < do lots of heavy abs work>.
3) You need to bring the bar alot lower on the boards, sink it in and heave it back.
4) you need to bring your elbows in much tighter to your body on the decent.
4) we never do singles on board press, we work up in triples until we fail to complete a set.
5) you don't need to gain more weight, the average MM lifter benches 200#+ over his body weight . Most MM lifters in the 308s (where you would compete) bench in the 600-700+# range.
6) divided efforts lead to divided results. Pick a system and do it correctly.

Thanks for all the tips. That's a lot of stuff to work on.

I appreciate the time that you took to watch the videos and give me advice. Thanks again.

now what do you mean by that???

I think he meant that I should either choose Westside or Metal Militia and stick with it.

By the way, no I'm not going to work or class today.
...chad...

i mean that attempts at hybid systems combining WS DE an ME days for BP w/MM training have generally led to lackluster results. I think that most people would derive greater benefit from sticking with one or the other.
Further more, proper coaching is essential in either system for the begining lifter. Knowledge = Power. There is nothing worse than realizing a year or two down the road that you have been doing it wrong and getting sub par results after expending great efforts in the gym. Work hard and work smart.

agreed about the coaching deal. and your point on wsb+mm is very valid. Im still using wsb workout, im just working on my arch and bar path like MM.

oh, and cheesecake, wanna come with me to the gym tonight???

X

I never meant to imply that I am doing a mixed routine. I have been and will continue to use a modified WSB routine.

When I said that I was trying to bench with more of a MM style I was referring to form specifically, i.e., more arch, feet underneath me, lowering bar further down on my belly.

Depends on how I feel at the time. I'll let you know.

well i need the 4 boards.......... plus you guys could hang out tonight, plus you could let me borrow your playstation, plus you could bring my dbz game, plus the driver games,

and im out of plus'

Nice workout, I can see a few problem in the path of the bar though, you seem to not have enough speed when the bar is coming up, so you get stuck and rotate your arms up to put stress on you shoulder and then you push with your tris. Push more with your legs and work on pec strength to help the bottom lift, also hammer those lats to get stable

I would like for you to explain how that is not a " mixed routine". Im not trying to bust your balls here, I'm just trying to make a point.

he does the exact same program i do. its a wsb program, the only difference is besides going to a 1 rep max on 1 exercise. we go to a 1 rep max, and then pick another exercise and go for a 3 rep max.

and like cheesecake said, im trying to bench with more of a MM style, not program.

i got that idea from spatts.

BigWh1tey said:
baaaa ...... the infidel spatts has corrupted you .... what ? you wanna bench like a girl (j/k)...

lol............ if it makes me a world record holder then hell yeah!!!

lol

Cheesecake- Looks like your getting a lot stronger. Now like the others said you need to work on stability and form. On your ohp's try straightening your wrists instead of letting them roll back will help keep the weight in line.

290 huh? you weigh the same as me right now though you are 3" taller than I am. No offense but you don't look that heavy with your big frame. You have a lot of room left to pack on muscle and then look out world.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Thought I would put up some comparison shots so that everyone could see the difference that 30lb makes.

Taken on 07/12 at ~260lb:

thats what i didnt get, the first picture was back in july, and the 2nd one was from a minute ago.

yeah, your rear delts and the back of your tri's the pressing part is looking a lot bigger.

X

I don't think I'm looking a lot bigger, but there definitely is a difference.

I know that I'm getting bigger because my clothes aren't fitting anymore. All of my pants are fitting tight in the legs and I'm having trouble buttoning all of my shirts, especially the top few buttons.

I have to keep telling myself that I've only been lifting for three months. I realize that it takes years to get to where I want to be. But I'll get there.

And your not fat either, its nice being tall isnt it.
I'm 6'5" and it definitely has it's advantages.

Kinda sucks always hitting your head on stuff though. :lmao:

Also sucks that I have to go as low as I do to get below parallel on squats and as far as I have to press to lockout on bench.

Sure is nice on the deadlift though.
