    protein shakes don't take more energy to digest then fats. Infact, their GI is higher. Eat more fish, chicken or turkey breast, buffalo sirloin, or 99% lean beef. Flavored, naturally sweetened protein shakes are good for killing appetite and getting clean calories, but nothing to hype about.
