perhaps ur back injury and other injuries were leaving your muscles, surrounding muslce in a "sick" state. by repariing maybe they are not "sick" anymore, so GO TO GO...
once again it is an individual thing like EVERYTHING. why not rotate 5x5 instead of once awk or twice a week to maybe 3 times every two weeks... so in a 14 day period you would bench 5x5 3 times... allowing perhaps give or take depending on rotation roughly 4 days inbetween bench days. who knows.
well if your not already swimming/running then perhaps do a search for Navy Seal warning order. written by same guy, Stew Smith. If you can get through that. then cia/nsa physically will be a breeze. mentally is a whole other game
