The NuvaRing is as effective as the pill. Because its absorbtion is trans-mucosal, it avoids first-pass liver metabolism and does not have to pass through the GI tract (intestines) and therefore can be given in lower doses. It is very good because there are less user compliance failures but...

The dex(amethasone) is an acute treatment, like solu-medrol. And yes, there has been a shortage of methyprednisolone lately; it IS better but there are standard conversions between different types of steroids.

Sorry, I didn't realize you said LEFT side- can't be the Gallbladder, that's on the right, surrounded by the liver. Are you taking NSAID's (advil, motrin, alleve, etc..)? It really sounds like your stomach, like a peptic ulcer or something similar. Sometimes the stress of surgery alone can...

By the way, there's a good chance your pain is GALLBLADDER pain. Do you puke green? Does it radiate to the back? Have chills? Try Maalox, Mylanta, or Pepto and see if it helps. Laying on your belly helps gas to pass.

Cipro is VERY good for soft tissue/skin; Personally most surgeons prefer Floxin, although it is a bit more pricey. As for the skin incisions: 1. Vitamin E daily (Break capsule, apply to skin), 2. Triple Antibiotic (Neosporin) daily for a week then QOD, 3. DO NOT USE PEROXIDE MORE THAN twice...
