I've had good luck with my 7mm-08 on medium to big game, a touch softer recoil than a .308 with just about the same preformance.

Glock are nice, so are HK's but Sig's are way under rated and the SA XD's I've handled have been a real joy to shoot. I curently carry a P226ST in .357 and love it.
