But what were numbers before using ALA? Have you seen changes over time while using ALA? In a way this can only be checked through consistent testing. Over time, I myself noticed a rise in my fasting glucose readings when taking ALA as well as a few others who took it. If I rememember...
Fonz,
How often do you check your blood sugar? I've posted this question to you before (regarding your experiments). Because most of your results only reflect when you are "on" ALA. What are your base numbers? Showing a change from a base would better show the effectiveness of a...
It would be interesting if we got a thread going of members with glucometers. That way we could all get a better idea about how well certain supplements work by comparing results.
No, like I said I found too many funny effects with the standard ALA. Didn't want to take a chance. I also have found too many inconsistencies with other supplements. I tend to stick to whole foods and have found the best results through this protocol.
Thank you for your interest. Through experimentation on myself, using pre and post meal/workout blood glucose readings with a wide variety of foods and a wide variety of exercise situations (weights, cardio, wrestling) I have been able to contsruct my meal plan to maximize my training...

Zagerus,
How often do you check your blood sugar? Over the past year I have been trying to design programs for athletes using blood sugar measurements to shape training and diet. A 68 point swing doesn't seem that extreme considering that it was post-workout. Have you tried without the ALA?
On another thread it seems that some of us who have blood glucose monitors were noticing higher fasting blood glucose levels while taking ALA. Alot of people mention the positive effects of ALA on blood glucose, but unless they monitor there blood glucose consistently over an extended period...
Without a carb source your body will just convert your pre-workout whey into energy (glucose). Have verified this with a glucometer. Depending on what your stomach can handle, get some good carbs and protein before you workout to maximize your energy and muscle building during your workout.
Frequent urination could also be the result of ohter hormone abnormalties (lack of vassopresin). Could mass doses of ala have a negative effect on the whole hormonal system? By the way MS what kind of numbers are you getting, are you checking when you wake up at night?
Longtime viewer first time responder. Thought it was important to add my 2cents when I noticed that MS was experiencing higher baseline blood glucose readings while on ALA. I check my BG levels daily (upon waking and at diferent times during the day). When taking ALA my morning BG was...
