    Bigger legs?

Try narrow stance squats. They seem to hit the quads harder. Go atf on all squats. Make sure you're doing deads, too; but 2 days (at least) later, so you're not sore or tired from doing squats.

    Had a great workout today...

Sounds like it's working well for you. Since the start of November, I put on 1" on my arms, 1" on my quads and about 1" on my shoulders. I wasn't doing a strict 5X5, but all of the exercises. I threw in 8 sets of tris and 4 sets of bis per week. Great results! Keep up the good work.

    Confused! Pwo, Preworkout And Cardio

I have my pwo shake after I'm done and gone home. I've tried doing it between lifting and cardio, but it makes me feel sick when doing cardio. I'm not sure that it really matters, if it's working for you.

Need help on weight lifting schedual!!!

Yeah, you might want to take it easy on him for a few weeks to let him get used to hitting it again. 24 sets is a lot and maybe he can't do that much weight, either. I'd have him try 135# and see how he does. Go up from there. Also......see Musketeer's post.

    Encouragement for 2006

I'm not sure if this is the right spot, so please move it if necessary. I breif bit about me. I just turned 43. With the exception of several years of not lifting, due to marriage and too much work, I've lifted since I was 12. I'm a flyfisherman (thus the name rbtrout [rainbow trout]) and in...

    My Routine

What's your goals? Big and strong or just ripped? I totally agree with anotherbutters - there is no such thing as a 'hard gainer'. If you're not gaining weight, then eat more. It truly is that simple. Your workout, to quote anotherbutters, stinks. You workout every day with no rest? No...

    how good is this workout

I'm with cubuff27 on this one. I've lifted since jr. high, with a non-lifting stint after I got married. I started up again 5 years ago. When I did my first 5X5, I could hardly move after doing squats and bench. Then on Wednesdays, I hardly had the energy, after doing deads to do anything...

What's the measurments of your biceps now?

I started at about 11.5" 5 years ago after a long spell of no workouts. Now, pushing 18", but haven't measured in a while.

    cardio & weights

No matter if bulking or cutting - lift hard and heavy. This will build strength (if bulking) and help you lose less strength (if cutting). Keep running, as well, but don't substitute it for lifting or you'll lose the gains you've made.

    LEGS without deads, squats (endurance)

It all really depends upon what you want to train for. If you want to be a long distance runner that is skinny, then run. If you want to be a lifter with a good build that runs, then lift. If you're not wanting to gain any size in your legs, then squat with lighter weight and more reps. Keep...

How to blast through a plateau

A couple of ways that I've found out - the 5X5 routine actually works to do this. The other I've tried is one that I read about a couple of weeks ago. If your 1rm is 300# on the bench - do 1 rep at 90% of max and then quickly do 6 reps at 70%. Rest. Do 1 rep at 92.5% and then quickly do 6 at...

I must have been a good boy all year long

The best part about it is that now you know you can lift that weight......and you can do it again.

?What are some problems that can be caused by not going down past parellel on SQUAT??

It's all about the knees. I used to do just below parallel squats and could hit 450. My knees always hurt. I started doing atf squats this year (March, I think) and I generally have no knee pain. We should all watch what we do - in terms of how it affects ours bodies - but especially if...

    anything for soreness pain?

Everything's basically been said already. I don't like taking anything, I just live with the soreness. BUT, aspirin, Aleve, etc. and lot's of water. Light cardio with some stretching. I play bball and/or raquetball, as well. I'm slow to start but get going OK once I've warmed up.
