Nah the safety squat bar is slightly different. The bar is shaped so the weight is actually placed further forward so it can be balanced on the shoulders without having to grip it
Re: Re: Re: COC Gripper #1 PR
It sounded like you needed to hear it :p
Even the longest journey starts with a single step.
One of the hardest things with the grippers is learning how to hold and set it properly.
Deads are tough. If you are pushing yourself on them you will feel very tired after. I never do more than 5 reps at a time and i'm completely out of breath after.
As for straps. I'd never use them myself. Try to do more grip work to improve your grip. Farmers Walks and static holds are great...
I lift with the bar starting away form the shins after all surely dragging up the shins uses more energy in friction than lifting an extra 1/4 or an inch., especially if you have knobbly knees like i do :p
The ones you see getting the most talked about world records are nearly always in the SHW catagory, ie they don't have to worry about their weight, and as we all know it's much easier to get strong if you can eat as much as you want
I'd suggest you do more sets warmup but with less reps
Maybe:
60x10
70x6
80x3
90x3
100x3
110x1
then the max set.
The jump from 80 to 115 at the moment is too big
So your body isn't accustomed to the heavier weight.
CoolColJ: Thanks sooo much for those pics.... i've been trying to think of how to sort out the bigger bands.... i've been double choking them on the dumbells at my gym, but they only go up to 45kg, and it's almost getting to the point where i'm lifting them off the floor when squatting.
I play Football over here in England. Last summer i got onto the Great Britain Students team. Thing is, the tour that year was planned to be a tour to the US.
As you can imagine, Amfoot isn't taken that seriously over here, and as i am naturally quite strong i never needed to train seriously to...
