Sometimes I add flax meal and soy milk to my oats. and I second BigTastey 25 - I love to add LF or FF vanilla yogurt to my oatmeal. Usually, tho, it's just cinnamon

No kidding about the toasting, eh? I'm totally gonna try that. So I went to the store and picked up some new oats from the bulk bin and they are completely smell and off flavor - free. Which, of course, makes me shiver when I think about how long I was eating rancid oats. Ohwell.

I have a canister of the John McCann's Steel Cut Irish oats which are beginning to smell quite funky - but not in an obviously spoiled way.... can oats go rancid like nuts and oils? Or do I have a freak canister? thanks.
