Switched from 5x5 to 8X3 and losing muscle FAST

Perhaps you're just missing your pump. It's unlikely you'll get one with only 3 reps per set. Try doing a 10 rep set (lighter weight) at the end of each exercise. If your diet is the same and you're still lifting heavy, I highly doubt you're losing muscle that quickly (if at all).

    Boxing and Weight Lifting

As long as you eat extra calories to negate the cals you burn from boxing, you should do just fine. Of course, you still need to eat even more than that to gain weight.

    5x5 progress and questions

I realized that I was doing the "Advanced" 5x5 instead of the "Intermediate". I am switching to the intermediate, which allows for more progression by reducing the volume (compared with the advanced). I plan to start week 4 on Monday. Even though I did the first 3 weeks on the advanced routine...

    5x5 progress and questions

Today marks the end of my 3rd week doing 5x5 and bulking diet. My starting weight was 163 and is now 168. My maintenance calories are ~2500 so I'm bulking with 3000/day. I also started creatine with the diet. I like the weight gain, and I'm assuming 2-3 pounds are water/glycogen, but I still...

Need Help with 5x5 and Rows

How much should knees be bent in order to be parallel with the ground when rowing? Mine are probably about 120 degrees. Is that normal?

any good bros in here have a good way to get your abs back quickly

There's nothing wrong with wanting to look good at 40+. I'd have more respect for a 40+ man whose in shape than a teenager whose in shape. On a side note, some people work out and get in shape for other reasons than trying to screw girls...

    Best Chest Builder

Do me a favor. Stretch your chest using the flat/incline/decline (all of them) motions. Do you feel the most stretch when pulling your arms up and back (decline movement)? Or do you feel it stretching more when you pull them straight back and down slightly (incline)? Try it out. Think about it...

    Hst? Wtf?

I can do a full body HST routine in about 45 minutes. You can really use a lot fewer exercises than you'd think and actually work your entire body adequately. The purpose of the 15's is mainly to prepare your muscles/joints/tendons for heavier weight in the following weeks. If a beginner starts...

Barbell Rows and keeping the back arched...

Thanks for the advice guys. What kind of poundages do people generally row compared to benchpress?

Barbell Rows and keeping the back arched...

I've never done barbell rows before, but I recently tried them because I'm planning to start the 5x5 in about 2 weeks. The first thing I did was practice with only the bar to make sure my form was right (I had a mirror on the side). Once my formed looked right, I began pulling. The first...

    Barbell rows

Is it really necessary to focus on pulling with specific? I've found that when weight gets heavy with any exercise, my body uses all the muscles it needs in order to lift it. Is there any truth to benefitting from focusing on certain muscles as long as your form is good?

Madcow2 5x5: Explosive concentrics, but what tempo for eccentrics?

I understand exactly what you mean. It's difficult to create a template that can be flexible for a variety of people to use. Having said that, I put together a simple spreadsheet for my own personal use, which I'll e-mail to you in case you'd like to use it. I did not specify any weights or...

Madcow2 5x5: Explosive concentrics, but what tempo for eccentrics?

The table of contents was very helpful in finding the answers to my questions. My only suggestion atm would be to create an Excel worksheet to be used as a template for creating workouts. Given the complexity of the program (varying volume, weights, and frequency), I think it would be very...

Madcow2 5x5: Explosive concentrics, but what tempo for eccentrics?

I'm planning to give this program a try when I get back home. I've read many threads about it and have been putting my workout together. Everything is making sense so far, but I've got one question atm. Should one use slow eccentrics on the lifts? Or should it be fairly quick (but controlled)...
