Drop sets are great!
I've used those sometimes for example in my shoulder workouts. But doing a drop sets in squats...? If I start to adjust the weights in the bar, the feeling is gone. :-)
I'm usually training alone. Of course sometimes I can ask some other trainer at the gym to be my spotter. But sometimes there aren't anyone else at the gym, so give some advice to some workouts. (I sometimes train at my school's gym, and there isn't always somebody...)
What comes to bench press...
Believe me, you need to rest and give your hip some time to heal!
For some time now I've had problems with my inner part of my left hip, and sometimes especially if I tried to run with a bit faster (sudden start and that kind of things) or with longer jogging my hip pain came back.

Try push-ups with arms wide apart (usual bench press width), then arms next to your body pushing more with your tris, hands together ("close grip"). Try push-ups with a clap or push-ups between the chairs, Lowering yourself as low as you can get. Or make push-ups while standing on your hands -...
In addition to my cat (which could sometimes count as a training aid...?) I have a set of dumpbells. Well actually they are on the floor next to the bed, but anyway.
