    Pre/Post workout nutrition and supplements...

I thought some of you might find this interesting. One of the lifters I coach, Jon North is getting very close to breaking the American Records in Olympic Weightlifting... I got the guy who works with us to optimize his supplementation to explain what we are doing and why we are doing it at...

Which Type Of Rows Do You Like Best?

For several years I thought it was stupid and forbid anyone I knew to use that term. Now I am starting to think its ok, even a bit cool.

Is being over 220lbs achievable without steroids? Please read

NO ONE can accurately tell you what your genetic potential is. NO ONE. However, it is my belief that the majority of people that are say 5'10 to 6' will probably be able to get to a lean 220 if they are willing to train right. Who knows, you might get to 240. NO one knows. But 220lbs at...

    5x5 Workout Questions

first thing I would do is go and get the version at the stronglifts.com site, its a better version. Then, do rows on monday, powerclean on wednesday, which should be the easier day, and powercleans are easier to recover from.

Is being over 220lbs achievable without steroids? Please read

For most people a lean 220lbs is pretty easy if you are near 6 feet tall if you train right. It all depends on you, and what your willing to do in the gym.

    5x5 progression thread

The best way to start the 5 by 5 method is to start with the beginner program, which means ramping weights up from a light warmup to a maximal set of 5, and do that EVERY training day. when the gains on this run out, and you have had a couple of resets, then go to what is now known as the...

    5x5 Workout Questions

If you are gonna do powercleans, do them at least once a week, otherwise, dont bother and just row.

    Texas Method

Its a solid program. This year, 3 of the 8 man US team to go to the Pan American games in Olympic weightlifting are coached by me, and all have used the "texas method" quite a bit in their training. Like any program, its not the end all be all of training, but it gets you stronger and bigger...

    Learn to BB row!

I cant believe i just watched a douchebag row with a curl bar with maybe 30-40lbs? That was really sad. Odd thing is, the guy has some muscle. Surely he knows better... glenn

    Define OVER TRAINING

There is actually a fair amount of peer reviewed and published info that shows that given the same total work volume, whether you accomplish it in one or two days per week, or 3 or 4 days pwer week, is not all that important to whether you "overtrain" or not. So training frequency is not the...

Speed/Vert training in conjuction with 5x5?

I dont want any money, and yes, this is really Glenn Pendlay. It seems you have multiple threads talking about your training... I would rather not hunt down all the info... if you would care to give me a quick rundown of what specifically you are doing now, id be happy to offer some...

    Define OVER TRAINING

The title of this thread is "Define Over Training". This has little to do with training frequency. I had talked a lot about this before, back years ago when the old Meso board was popular. The important thing is how much training you do in a given time frame, like a week, a month, etc... at...

Speed/Vert training in conjuction with 5x5?

Gladiator, The 5X5 that Madcow got from me was never supposed to be used in conjunction with speed training. We never did it that way. If you want to run faster, you will have to do a slightly more advanced program, where you gradually decrease squat volume, and replace it with things like...
