Hey all! Hopefully this is a quick fix.
In week six of a pretty standard rugby weight lifting regime. It involves quite a bit of rows, etc. -- things that are intense on the wrists, especially in terms of twisting.
Was wondering if anyone here knew of any specific tricks or exercises to...
CYA Statement: There are a multitude of different approaches to this, and what worked well for me might not work as well for others.
Now that that's out of the way -- what I did was remove "regular" squats entirely from my routine for about a week and a half and replace them with A) Box Squats...
Try doing some "corehab" -- planks, etc. That will help some. You might also try some box squats. They worked very well for me when I had a similar problem a few years ago!
Just an update -- took a week and a half off from squats and deadlifts and did some extensive "corehab" to build up core strength. Did 4x4 heavy squats yesterday and 4x6 heavy deadlifts today with ZERO pain. Thanks again for all of the help!
Supplements need to have a good foundation to work properly. As others have mentioned, if you had your diet in order you'd be seeing the fat draining off and the muscles bulking up without the use of any supplements. Supplements increase the effects of a good diet and workout (and even then only...
I feel weaker simply because I never use sumo stance, so my body's not used to it. If my body's not used to it, I'm less confident about the lift, and mentality is a huge element to the strength that you feel when performing a lift.
I'd have a hard time believing that there's a serious...
The reason that nobody is answering your question about bar weight on the Smith Machine is because there is no standard weight for a bar on a smith machine.
If you detached the bar from the machine, it's either going to weigh 35 pounds or 45 pounds depending on the brand of smith machine...
First off, you need to go to a diff gym. If it's your only option, that sucks, but any gym where people won't lend a quick spot to a courteous person isn't worth your money. Can you post your routine and any gains you've made with corresponding dates? I can't stand the smith machine for hardly...
For me it's the shoulder press machine (I can't stand machines in general, but especially the shoulder press machine). I think what really gets me (aside from the general inferiority of machines in general) are those guys who wander into the gym, stack a couple of 45s on the shoulder press...
Yeah, no PRs here (yet!) Moya. Definitely went into this program with the intent to ease into it as slowly as I can. I'm at least experienced enough to know not to push my body when it's so out of shape.
If I said I was doing high reps, I was wrong... usually do 4x4 or somewhere thereabouts...
Thanks for the quick reply, Nightmare! To answer your question -- it's been QUITE a while (on the order of two years) since I've done anything other than jogging/running and some BW exercises (pushups, burpees, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if my core was in worse shape than Fukushima...
