every smith I ever owned had an issue crypt

one had fly aways, another had hang ups on the ramp, and another the firing pin would randomly strike the rim instead of center

maybe I just got unlucky because a friends S&W revolver was amazingly smooth
the ex has a very nice little walther

I didn't want to shit on his dreams but yeah, S&W are nothing like what they used to be. Only gun I own that has issues is the Walther.
