Most (98%) now survive ALL. 30 years ago they didn't. Remission means these kids go on to live another day. Some live to a ripe old age. I don't think I could put a price on a kid's life like that. If it meant that we all lived in huts and ate roadkill to cure childhood cancer, I would be all for it.

AML has a very low rate of surivial.
And the rate you mentioned is not a "survival rate" it's the rate that patients are living longer than the expected 5 yr surival rate.
The reason there are better survival rates is because of bone marrrow transplants.

Now let's look at the other side of the coin. The rate of childhood leukemia is also more predominate than it was 30 yrs. ago.
Why, well take a look at what we feed our kids, the air they breathe and all the other enviromental factors.

And kids are just as important as anyone else who has cancer.
Kids do not take precendence over anyone else because they are kids.
