A WHOLE NEW level of CGI - totally human

Google for "Death Star over San Francisco" :D

who cares if they have to film the person do it all anyways?? what would be the point, you film a real movie then make it into cgi

I think it would be cool just to do CGI then skip paying all of those pricks on Hollywood millions of dollars.

Plus once this stuff is available for our use on home computers I can think of all kinds of nasty ways to make Angelina Joile "act" lol

She's not CGI. She's human with CGI wireframes on top of her allowing engineers to modify the textures. It's been around for awhile and the basis for motion capture.

Beowulf was made with that same technology btw.

Nothing new to see here kids :)

Hate to say it, but the YouTube version looks like ass. The site where I saw it was artifact-free and realistic enough to really be scary. I mean, if NBC put it on the nightly news, I could imagine an Orson Welles "War of the Worlds" panic.

It takes 300 souped up computers in a farm just to render Shrek. And that is of course nowhere realistic. We are decades away in computing power before we have the ability to render human-like texture qualities and motion into video. It takes me 3 hours on my computer just to render a 3 second HD clip using Transformers style cgi on my quad with 4 gigs.
