Russian Blue is the best, most loving, playful, least shedding cat. I've had cats all my life and can't believe the awsome personality of my Russian Blue. #1 choice by far!

Whatever breed, get a female. They arn't as aggressive, and they (probably ) won't piss all over your carpet like a male.

Like Smalls said, avoid siamese--they're moody and they yell all the time. My suggestion is to stop by your local animal shelter. You can get a perfectly good kitten for free, and you know it's gonna be healthy.

And be sure to get it spayed/neutered when it's old enough
